4.0 out of 5 stars Room for improvement 14 Jun 2013

I built the original model back in the 80's when i was a young teen and was very disappointed then when it was made with the wrong rear window, I was very happy to see that this has been updated since then. Aside from that, i enjoyed putting this model together though for some reason I still have issues installing the entire roll cage in the model so I made it a partial cage from behind the seats back. I was lucky enough that my parents owned a General Lee Replica when I was a teen and it didn't have a full cage in it, so I made this model in it's honor. There's a lot of trimming and sanding involved, especially with the headlight insert pieces. Amazon shipping was amazing, got my text message same day it was in the mailbox. All in all a good buy for a decent model kit which could use a little more attention to detail.

2.0 out of 5 stars OVERRATED! POOR QUALITY!! 3 Feb 2014
By MARK A. GEIGER - Published on Amazon.com
I just completed this model. MPC put more time and money more into the box than the parts to the car. I spent more time trimming and shaving parts. The decals did not have a license plate or decals for the air cleaner. The front wheels did not fit right. I had to modify the wheels by sanding off the a 1/4 inch to get them to fit under the body. The rear axel is a metal rod that is covered by a 1 peice axel, driveline and exhaust. The exhaust should have been a seperate peice. The General Lee did not come with CB or CB whip for the truck lid. That was a big part of the car just like the push guard. Fitting the front and rear bumpers requires trimming, sanding and clamping. The box does not show the actual model assembled, just photos from the show and drawings without the rebel flag. This is the 25th car to my collection and second time I have assembled it. I had model when I was 11 and now at 43. For the price of models these days I expected a better product. Could have came with a plastic dirt mound that could would hold the car in a jump stance.

MPC's 1969 Dodge Charger general Lee kit has been available on and off since the Dukes of Hazard show was still on TV. The kit has changed a bit over the years, but this most current version has all the essentials to build a nice 1/25-scale model of the General Lee. It goes together easily and looks good finished. Model cement and hobby paints are not included, but required to build the model as shown in the photo.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bad quality 26 Nov 2011

The quality of the car is bad. The good side is that you have to put more effort as a modelist to clean out all the excess, dents, bad unions, etc. I just wish they would make it a little easier.

Also I didn't like how the tires are joined to the chasis, making it look like a toy. The engine looks good, but the exhaust will require an expert to make it look good (not me :S). Also the same with the tires.

I wouldn't buy this model again.
