Motherhood took a blistering 88 in it's opening weekend in the UK, with 9 of that coming on the Sunday (one ticket). This is why the movie was originally brought to my attention after an argument broke out between the producer and the UK distributor Metrodome reported by The Guardian. When I saw it was only a penny plus postage for a new copy on Amazon Marketplace, I just had to see if it was as bad as it seemed. The film stars Uma Thurman as a struggling mother who is married to ER's Anthony Edwards. It's supposedly a comedy but apart from a scene between Thurman and some young lad in a store where he berates her for invading his personal space whilst she is on her mobile phone, the movie was devoid of comedy. Unfortunately, it is a bad film and although Thurman and Minnie Driver put in reasonable efforts, you can only be as good as the product. Skip it. 2/5

I don't normally write negative reviews. However in this case I am making an exception as I believe it to be in the interests of mankind. The phrase don't judge a book (or DVD) by its cover springs to mind. "Hilarious comedy" says the cover. Doh! I really fell for that one! You'll be able to count the laughs on a single digit. The story although plausable, is so poorly executed that it comes across as lame. Minnie Driver's character offers some welcome relief, but has minimal screen time. This could have been funny and a great film. Sadly it isn't either.

This film hasn't had paticularly good reviews and though I really liked it , I suppose I can see why, It really does only aim at amusing mothers who can relate to the struggles and joys of motherhood.
I understood the message of the film perfectly, as a single parent and found it fairly amusing , though it didn't make me laugh out loud, it was a nice little film which I would recommend to my friends.

It's ok but quite long winded and boring in places.

Fairly good story line. Most mothers can relate to it :-)

I didn't like this movie at all - didn't even watch it to the end.
the situations are just so unreal - the dialogues so long
winded and unlikely- the whole
thing just feels fake and made up...and Uma thurman is just not believable
as a mum.
