Book Description

10 Sep 2012
This is the most informative book about Motorhead ever, and that is no idle boast. Written by their official biographer, Alan Burridge, who is often referred to by the band's legions of fans, the Motorheadbangers, as 'Professor Motorhead', this book offers the full and in-depth Motorhead story, including many previously unpublished facts, revealed here for the very first time in print. This story begins at the genesis of Motorhead, the struggles, the hardships, and the poverty; when no one but founder, bassist and vocalist, Lemmy Kilmister, had any faith in his band. His focus, tunnel-vision, and conviction to play the music he wanted to play has remained undiminished over the past 35 years and counting, and Lemmy's present status as a rock icon is proof that he was right to follow his vision. Today, with his long-time band cohorts, Phil Campbell on guitar, and Mikkey Dee on drums, the trio are regarded as one of the greatest rock bands in the world. Here we have it, everything you ever wanted to know about Motorhead, but were afraid to ask! The ultimate guide to one of the greatest rock bands of all time, Motorhead! 200+ full colour, glossy pages with shiny silver trim featuring rare and early photos, unreleased material, and more information about the band than any other book on the market - all bound in a gorgeous sliver and red embossed hard cover! Fully approved and endorsed by Lemmy (who also provides a brief note in the introduction). Contents: Introduction - to page 4, Forward - to page 5, The 1970's - pages 8-49, The 1980's - pages 50-105, The 1990's - pages 106-137, The 2000's - pages 138-186, Conclusion (Pictures and Wúrzel) - pages 187-219.

About the Author

Always a keen reader and writer, and with an interest in offset litho printing, the opportunity presented itself in 1979 to write and produce a fanzine for the rock band, Motorhead. It was the punk era, fanzines were trendy, a printing machine was available, an introduction to the band was made and we have never looked back. Now, in 2010, I have the pleasure of saying that I have been running the Motorheadbangers Fan Club for 30 years with almost 90 fanzines to my credit.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE ULTIMATE MOTORHEAD BOOK. 16 Sep 2012
Format:Hardcover
Read the Amazon book description and believe every word. This really is the ultimate book about Motorhead, written by Alan Burridge, the man who has lived and breathed Motorhead for oh so many years. Alan has been involved with the band for more years than any band member, other than Lemmy.
It's not the first book that Alan has written about Motorhead, but it is the best by a long way. It's packed with information, presented in a very readable style and with lots of very high quality photos, plus a few taken by friends and fans in the pre-digital age. I have been a fan of Motorhead since their first gig, at the Roundhouse in 1975, but this book has told me things I didn't know and shown me lots of photos I'd never before seen.
The book itself is of the highest quality, printed on good quality gloss paper and well bound. It even has the cover design embossed. Most impressive!
It may seem expensive, but you get what you pay for and with this book you get a book to be proud of.
Just one word of warning. It's very heavy, so try not to drop it on your toe.

3.0 out of 5 stars clean up the mistakes 12 Oct 2012
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Just finished reading this..while a very enjoyable history of the band and with some great photos..there are some very annoying mistakes which should not be made by someone who has ran the Motorhead fanclub for over 30 years..eg page 90...Motorhead did NOT headline the Donington festival in '86..they played halfway down the bill below Ozzy, Scorpions and Def Leppard! page 157.Inferno-'...produced once more by the exceptional Cameron Webb' implying that he had produced previous Motorhead albums...Inferno was the FIRST Motorhead album produced by Cameron Webb. There are also a number of mistakes in listing tour dates..eg 1980 beginning tour in Ireland feb 3rd..this tour began in Belfast on feb 7th.2004..Belfast date was Nov 6th..not Nov 3rd. I should know..I worked local crew on this gig.2008..Dublin was Nov 1st not Oct 31st...nor is Dublin part of the UK..quote 'Motorhead began their uk tour in Dublin' page168. There are also a number of typing mistakes throughout the book. Sorry if this all seems trivial but after shelling out over forty quid for this book on my favourite band, I would expect a higher quality of writing.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect book! 28 Feb 2013
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is a superb and detailed history of Motörhead, written by 'Mr Motörhead' himself Alan Burridge. It is packed with high quality photographs. The book is incredibly well researched and full of little known facts, charting the struggles faced by the band in the early days and the career highs and lows. The fact that Motörhead are still a going concern today after almost 40 years, is testament to the belief and vision of Lemmy and his uncompromising view that he will play what he wants. Mr Burridge is the only real 'super fan' and he has compiled a superb book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and recommend it anyone with even a passing interest in Motörhead.
