Toe Tag Pictures presents one of the most anticipated underground releases in recent history - AUGUST UNGERGROUND'S MORDUM! AUGUST UNGERGROUND'S MORDUM is the follow up to the as yet unreleased underground horror classic AUGUST UNGERGROUND. Lensed in Pittsburgh on digital video, then degraded to look like "found footage," Mordum is the story of three sick young serial killers who film their acts of violence and torture. The film is peppered with outstanding makeup effects and grisly set pieces, and the performances from Michael T. Schneider (A Tribute to Sanity), Fred Vogel (the original August Underground), and newcomer Cristie Whiles, are daring and unorthodox. The filmmakers strike an odd but compelling linear narrative, while simultaneously creating a disorienting and chaotic environment within which the three psychos wreak their madness. A fourth sicko played by Killjoy of the band Necrophagia, is introduced near the film's climax. Horror realism at its finest, the August Underground series has the potential to become North America's answer to the popular Japanese Guinea Pig series. Fans of confrontational cinema take notice. Mordum is a harrowing and brutal film that will surprise even the most jaded horror fan." -Art Ettinger, Ultra Violent Magazine. After reading all the hype and reviews i made my purchase based on the fact that this is supposed to be no1 in the gore charts ! Well i must say it's pretty crap ! not impressed at all so Don't spend more that £5.00 on this.!
go try 'Vomit Gore' , 'cannibal' , 'Melancholie der Engel' or 'HC2' - far better !

Okay, right off the bat, I Hated August Underground. I hate it with a passion. It's pointless, not shocking, badly acted and an even worse storyline (and not bad in a good way). Being a sick film fan, AU so far did nothing for me so I was hoping Mordum was going to be much, much better. And it is better than the first AU, but not by much at all! In AUM we meet Peter again, but this time he lives with his girlfriend Crusty. Before we all go "awwwww" I must point out that Crusty also has her Brother living with them called Maggot... who's also her lover. Maggot is the one saving grace of this movie. He is the only character that acts really well, is horrific to watch and I would recommend the Movie based on his acting and terrifying character. At the beginning of the movie we see Peter catching Maggot and Crusty doing the no pants dance and what does Peter do about it after much threat at them from the other side of the door?! Nothing, that's what. He even gets friskay when Crusty starts throwing stuff at him and cutting herself up. It seems the love triangle has been temporarily forgotten and all is well in the AU House so the 3 Killers go to a drug den where they kill one of the guys living there (and guess what?! We don't see it... We get to see what he had for dinner instead. Yawn). Then, like the first AU, nothing much really happens. They go to gigs, they hang around their town, then there are a few "shocking" (I'd say more tacky) scenes where they rape and torture a Woman and her Husband. The only scene I struggled with is a paticular scene where Crusty is puking on 2 chicks and Maggot rapes the disemboweled stomach of one of the chicks. Oh and the end scene with Maggot, but you'll just have to see that to see what I mean. Again, no real plot except for the love triangle between the 3, no real story improvement, bad acting except for Maggot, slightly more gore but still a pointless endeavour.

Must say I expected much more from this film.

From what I'd read online, this was one of the most disturbing films ever - more so than a serbian film, last house, texas chainsaw massacre, etc. IT IS NOT... unless you count the diabolical acting and 'direction'.

Basically, this is a bunch of poor actors shouting and swearing at each other while they spray around a load of clearly fake blood and cut through fake skin and pretend to rape people. The acting on the part of the victims is just as poor as that of the tormentors, and thus you can't buy into the experience at all. There is no plot, and so this is broken down into a bunch of scenes of porlongued - and thus boring, in this case - torture scenes.

In my opinion, this pales into insignificance when compared to the likes of a serbian film - where the acting and special effects and story are believable and bring you into the horror of what's going on on the screen, rather than alienating you from it.

If you're curious because of the hype, fair enough, but don't spend a fortune getting hold of this film!

All I can say is I can certainly see why this film has received negative reviews before.
