I have been looking for a speaker, primarily for travelling, for hotel rooms, holidays etc. I was tempted by the Jambox, although listening to one in a shop it sounded like a tiny band trapped in a box. The Bose Soundlink sounded ok, but is large, heavy, and expensive. Then I thought I would try this cheaper, made in the UK option. Once you get over the lack of wireless connection, which I can live without, and can't sound as good as a cable connection, this seemed to fit the bill. So I took a chance and bought this without trying it. What arrived a couple of days later came in a nicely designed cardboard tube. Inside a travel pouch is the speaker and the necessary leads. The speaker is very solidly built, a beautiful object in its own right. Then you plug it in. I am tempted to buy a second, for positioning in a room and stereo, but one of these is things is truly amazing. There are two inputs, one for higher gain, which is really loud, and another for more subtle volume and slightly better quality. I find it hard to imagine there is anything on the market to compete with this. Not just amazing as a portable device, but can serve a lot of other functions too as a general purpose piece of audio equipment. Not just for holidays, but now an indispensable part of listening.
