I have been stopped by the police with this umbrella twice now and both times they found it hilarious. Maybe this is just the police in Cardiff? I've taken this umbrella with me on the train, police in Victoria station in London walked straight past me as did police in Birmingham Newstreet station.

The prongs show more than the picture here would like you to think and anyone standing near by can see it for what it is. They still look though as it's still a cheeky novelty. This is how I discovered it. I saw a girl wearing one in Tesco. I quickly worked out what it was but continued to stare in disbelief of how cool it was.

I did feel very self concious the first few times I wore it out but the more you do the more you realise that most people don't even notice (my parents didn't until I pointed it out) and the ones who do wont stop you. Some times someone asks me, with an expression of worried confusion, if I'm really carrying a sword. When I tell them it's an umbrella they laugh and say it's the coolest thing in the world =D.

This umbrella is bad ass and I recommend it to anyone with the bravado to wear it in public.

It's also very well made and sturdy, the arms are made of tensile plastic like a dome tent, not those metal arms which break all the time. The sheath and strap might require some maintenance after a while however.

It's just fun, and the umbrella itself is the sturdiest umbrella i've seen in my life, (my short life... im only 20). be under no illusions, the handle is made of plastic. but its a strong plastic.

my friend bought the mini version and said it was disappointing, but I'm very happy with my full-size version. the only problem is walking down the street and having everybody think that you are carrying an actual weapon.

I was very impressed with the quality of this brolly. Very sturdy compared to other ones of the same idea, as there are indentical looking umbrellas with much poorer construction. You might feel wary while walking around carrying it on your shoulder while it is in its case, so it was easy to make a strap from an old laptap bag and use two small luggage label straps for each end of it, thus ditching the case and making the brolly more visible. Practise will easily find the best position for balance and carrying. This means that looking from the front , the desired effect happens! But from the rear view , it just looks like a brolly with a cool handle.Let's face it - if you wanted to carry a sword stick type weapon , you would buy one totally disguised as an umbrella. This is just an umbrella that looks like a sword. enjoy! I am 60 years old by the way and prefer to grow old as disgracefully as possible!I have recently updated this comment to show how i have customised my brolly collection to make the handles more realistic.( view customer images ).

After seeing this product online I thought it would be a nice pick-me-up for those rainy English mornings, however upon opening the product i found that the handle had become de-attached and the hand-guard snapped. After rummaging through the box for i good 10 minutes i couldn't find the missing piece and concluded that it was broken before it was sent. Potential to have been a great buy. Dissapointing

I haven't tested this umbrella in the weather, but it seems to be relatively sturdy (not exactly a connoisseur of umbrellas but it looks like it might stand a bit more force than your average pound-shop umbrella, my only real point of comparison). The design if nice, if not exactly handcarved. The fabric seems cheap and I'm not sure the stitching is build to last, but then this is only a little over £10 so what do you expect. The plastic is very solid, and quite heavy, which while gives it a robust feel also leads me onto the issue with it:

The shoulder carrier thing it comes with it is very badly designed, as well as cheap. The thread connecting the strap the sheath looks like it'll come away any time soon but the real issue is the ergonomics of it itself. Having the umbrella over your shoulder with handle at the top (like in all the pictures) is totally impossible; the weight of the handle will pull it down to your side and after a few steps the entire thing will be almost completely vertical, bashing into people and stopping you going through doorways. There's a simple solution to this: wear it upside down. It seems to fit better and it will be far less obtrusive and visible as the handle will fall down behind your backside, and this works even better for me as I wear a messenger bag so the handle is almost totally out of sight. The downside to this is that the umbrella will quickly slide out of the sheath so you'll have to hold onto the handle with one hand. Not a major issue and to be honest it feels much cooler having it this way round as it gives the impression that you're ready for a quick withdrawal to protect yourself from the rain / decapitate your enemy. Whichever is more pertinent.

[EDIT] Lowering the score to two stars as the handle has now come free of the umbrella because of cheap glue!

Great gimmick and after the first arrived broken the company sent another, which was kind but the button for the umbrella realises has come of which is disappointing. I think there are more expensive types with more detail on the handle I would suggest buying one of those as this is cheap and nasty.
