Before I start I'd better come clean and admit that, apart from 'Wildside', I haven't heard any of the tracks from this album in their entirety, only the snippets on this site and on FM's own website. I've been a fan of FM for many years now and consider myself a 'child of the eighties' where AOR rock was a staple of radio playlists and the charts and not something to be scorned at or seen as 'old hat'. It is my firm opinion that melodic rock is still as valid today as it was 25 years ago but part of the problem is that the AOR rock 'big guns' of the eighties that still make music today, Bryan Adams, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi etc are very much content to churn out mediocre albums these days. Where once their premise was 'all killer, no filler' it seems that their remit is now the complete opposite. After listening to the previews of the songs from 'Metropolis' I am overjoyed to find that FM have triumphed where all these other artists have failed and made an album of undoubted quality from start to finish. As another reviewer has mentioned however, as FM are not as high profile as the other artists of the AOR genre, this album will probably not have the success it deserves which is a real shame.
Well done FM, you have restore my faith! If you haven't heard of FM before but are a fan of melodic rock, do yourself a favour and buy this album. Hopefully my recommendation will help but listen to the previews of the tracks yourself - they're all the recommendation you'll need.
