Product Description

Product Description

Hsu's textbook is the first to provide a comprehensive overview of MEMS and microsystems for engineering students. The author provides the background information needed to understand microtechnologies, including solid mechanics, physics, and materials. Design and manufacturing aspects of MEMS are covered extensively; and the author chooses examples and applications from a variety of areas, including telecommunications, biomedical device design, manufacturing systems, mechanical systems and aerospace applications. Packaging aspects are also discussed, in the context of MEMS design and manufacture.

Next time, edit the book before publishing! 31 Oct 2002
By Brian Esser - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This book is here to really annoy students and teachers alike. The problems are vague and useless, the examples contain numerous math errors, and the author uses non-conventional notation and random greek letters. Typical problems refer the reader to figures and examples around the book, which combined are still missing half of the problem. The result? Spending half an hour to solve a single-equation problem, "guessing" half the values anyway. Some of the diagrams in the book were obviously scanned at a terrible resolution, rendering them unreadable (is it so hard to find a "legible" periodic table?)...

Why isn't zero stars an option? 5 Nov 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Clearly, this book slipped through the cracks in the scientific editor's desk, as it contains copious errors in not only math, but concepts also. The end of the chapter problems are ill-posed, as they often refer to 2-3 figures/examples within the chapter that require the student to make baseless assumptions in order to solve the problem.
Also, the low print quality and ever poorer figure quality make me wonder where my money went. Perhaps after a couple of revisions, a tight edit, and quality review this book will be worthy to be called a text.
Packed with errors 5 Mar 2008
By Knut - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
We chose this book as textbook in an introductory course in Microsystems (bachelor level course). What a terrible mistake! The content of the book seemed to be exactly what we needed, but the book is full of errors, especially when trying to deal with basic science as physics and chemistry. We had to create a long list of correction of errors, in order not to fool our students. As it stands, the book is useless.
