Jane Colby, ex-head teacher, ex-ME suffer and current runner of Young Action Online, is an inspiration to us all. As an ME sufferer my self, I found this book an enlightening insight into the condition, as did my mum, my carer (thanks Mum! and Dad, and everyone!lol). If you have ME, care for someone with it, are just intereasted, or your a medical pratitioner, I advize you read this book. It's got everything! I was diagnosed incorrectly at first, but when we realised what it was, we found support from AFME and YAO. Thanks again, and ne one out there suffering, get well soon!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o)

love, Fi xxxxxx...

Jane Colby is a former head-teacher who had to leave the profession after becoming bed-ridden with severe ME, although she has recovered somewhat. Her writing style shows a lot of compassion and concern, particularly for the young people with ME she has spent most of the last 20 years helping. An important part of the book is the interviews with various ME experts, including Dr Elizabeth Dowsett, Richard Bruno and Alan Franklin. The links between ME and polio are clearly shown as are the importance of rest and the potential for danger in over-exertion, and some of the ongoing issues of lack of understanding and cruelty to ME patients are discussed. Not the most up-to-date work on ME but very useful to anyone who wants to increase their understanding of the situation.
