I just took and passed the certification today, but only got through by the skin of my teeth and this after feeling confident that I knew everything covered in this book. There were many questions that were not in the slightest covered in the book - such as djoin.exe and powershell commands. The book has simply not been updated to include the latest requirements for the exam.
Suggest at the very least you get the free e-book from microsoft "Introducing Windows Server 2008 R2 eBook" and make sure you setup some R2 labs to find the differences when following the book.
Other than that, the book is a good read and has only the occassional error, but cannot recommend this on its own.
I am currently studying for the MCITP and have (with the help of Sybex) already passed two exams first time, 70-640 is the last one for the Server Admin certification and I can highly recommend.
I tend to always buy two books for each exam the Sybex for indepth knowledge and the Exam Cram for recapping and testing my knowledge. This system seems to be a working formula for me and the cost is approx £35 for the two books for each exam (through Amazon).
