This book is an excellent reference to learn Windows XP for beginners. However, if you pass the 70-270 exam, you will need a lot more resources as it stays too general. Also not enough practice exercises but easy to understand and well laid out.

Im not sure if this book from microsoft is aimed at end users to become familiar with XP or is designed to help pass the 70-270 exam. Some chapters are over-simplified and some go into depth. Also, in my opinion, there are far too many "printing" errors, text missing, contradicting information and unfinished sentences (may need a later service pack). Much of it is also written as a sales pith, and dissapointing when it mentions a topic and does not elaborate - does not fully discuss everything.

Very misleading to suggest that this book gives you anywhere near enough info to pass the exam. The book doesnt go into that much detail on any of the topics discussed. To be honest even someone that is reasonable familiar with xp will find themselves already knowing 95% of the contents of this book. You would be far better getting the XP resource kit and browsing online resources for any futher research.
