Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this Kit for the MCSD exams but I was disapointed with the content. I was expecting far more information and better presentation, especially from a book that is recommended by Microsoft. It will by no means be enough for you to pass the exams so I'd recommend instead of spending around £100 to get this Kit, buy a few good quality books on each subject. It might come a bit more expensive, but you stand more chances of passing this way.

I have used these books plus some practice exams to pass certification. For this end they are perfectly sufficient. It is true that they are not as in-depth as the free documentation but the documentation is difficult to navigate around. The layout in these books is excellent for speed-reading/skimming/revising the night before an exam. These books will never be far from my desktop if only to fend off trivial questions from colleagues. I don't plan to buy any other .NET books now but to rely upon Google and MSDN.

My set has 2 second edition books that I cannot fault (they were Web Forms and Windows Forms). The other 2 books (XML Web Services and Project Analysis) were first editions.
In the first edition books I found the C# code samples to have missing declarations and missing "using" statements. There were other typos too. In many cases I had to look at the VB code to locate missing lines. I'm guessing that the C# code was ported from the VB code.
If you are doing the VB exams, take my rating to be 5 stars.
I have passed all the exams here but recommend that, like me, you find as many practice questions as you can.

Not Enough
Though the books cover the topics, but not in sufficient detail. Cover the same topics in detail from MSDN library as well for success. Read more
