This book covers all of the exam objectives. However, having taken the exam, the book does seem to spend too much time on some subjects, like Windows Services, and not enough time on things like Serviced Components and Remoting, this could have just been my exam though. The other place this book falls down is on errors in the code samples, it looks like the author created the VB samples first and then copied and amended them for C# and in a lot of places leaving syntax errors - maybe the author forgot that c# is case sensitive??? My final complaint lies with the samples, you can spend loads of time writing apps that invlove writing code that although is required for the samples to work, is not relevant for the exam. You can get the code from the supplemental CD, but not the SQL required for creating tables etc required for samples...this was very annoying and in the most part I did not bother fully completing the excersises.

But, with Transcenders, and MSDN to reinforce the objectives listed in the book, I did pass the exam first time.

Don't expect this book to go down to the level needed to pass the 70-320 exam but use this book as the platform to guide you through the syllabus, and use MSDN to fill in the details and you have an excellent self study program. Worked for me.

Insufficient Detail 17 July 2003

Given the amount of subject material this exam covers it was always going to be a difficult task for the authors. Unfortunately this book doesn't even come close to getting you prepared for the exam. Basically it just skims over each topic with insufficient detail to understand the topics to the level required and the example code seems to be page fillers rather than concise examples of the functionality.

I would recommend you stick to the .NET Framework documentation and use a MeasureUp / Transcender Exam to focus you on the right areas.
