Fun:
I once did a very basic typing course on a typewriter at evening classes but since working with a computer I had reverted to just 1 or 2 finger typing. I decided to try to build up my speed with touch typing and ordered this DVD.
It arrived promptly as always with Amazon and loaded quickly onto my computer which has Windows 7 installed.
The programme opens with a user menu which will allow more than one person to do the course. On the next screen you can choose to take a lesson, do more practice, play some typing games or read your report. At the first lesson you enter your typing goal speed and after each lesson you receive a note about your accuracy and speed. You can amend your goal speed any time. After several lessons a game appears, these are both amusing and challenging and only last a few minutes. On the report page there are several buttons which let you see how you are progressing and also show which keys are causing you more errors. There are various settings including music and the ability to turn off Mavis's voice - she can become a bit repetitive with her gentle praise.
I would recommend this course to beginners and improvers because it is easy to understand, informative as you progress and will take you as far as you wish to go with your speed.

Fun:
Had a Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing programme previously but needed another one that was compatible with Vista. Great tutorial which keeps you motivated to improve your WPM and reduce your errors. Its as if it knows when you're getting a little bored as it throws in a typing game to liven things up a little. Would definitley recommend as a beginners course or if your typing skills are a little rusty. I use it to stop my bad typing habits creeping in!

Fun:
an excellent product, typing has improved remarkably with about 20minutes work a day for four weeks. One negative point at the advanced level some of the keys are different but not a major issue. Would recommend it to novices.

not the best
i am using vista, but found because my typing speed was not fast enough i could not progress to all the keys
