MAM nipple shields are designed to be used when you have sore or cracked nipples; they protect nipples during breastfeeding and allow you to breastfeed for longer. They are made from extremely soft, extra-thin, flexible silicone and have a “breast-like” feel. They are specially shaped to allow your baby to have skin contact with you while breastfeeding. This allows baby to feel and smell you and continue to stimulate your milk supply while suckling. Your baby will easily return to your breast once your nipples are healed. The nipple shields come packed in a fully sterilisable travel case.

All the midwives seem to dislike the nipple shields, but these really worked for me. My son had problems latching on from the start and I got these even though all the 'experts' say not to. I am so glad I did! They worked, they are comfortable, and my son never seemed to have any problems with them. After a month I was able to bf without them and am still nursing 4 months later. These were the difference in breastfeeding or not for me.

My daughter had real trouble latching from birth - if it hadn't been for these shields, I doubt we would have ever managed to successfully conquer breastfeeding. As it is, my little one is now 5 and a half months old and breastfeeding beautifully.
They are made of soft silicone, are easy to use, feel comfortable, are easy to clean and the sterilisable boxes are great for transporting them - the only issue I had with them is that after a little while the little slits that allow the milk to come through can crack and split; once this happens, you really have to throw them away and get new ones. It took me a while to wean her from these shields, but with some perseverance, we succeeded; if you are having trouble getting your baby to latch on and are considering bottle feeding as a last resort, but would still dearly love to breastfeed, ignore the naysayers and the disdainful sniffers - give these a go, they helped me immensely!

I bought these after suffering a few days with cracked and very sore nipples.My midwife suggested this make as she rated them to be the best...well I am in total agreement.These have meant that I could continue breastfeeding.If I didn't have these I would have given up and gone on to bottle feeding.
I highly recommend them but would suggest buying two sets as I seem to always be sterilising them.
