This is a really good dummy or soother. The concept is simple and instantly visible when looking at the item; but it boasts more than the ability to stop your child getting misaligned or buck-teeth.
Thanks to the unique symmetrical Dento-flex teat, it's 60% thinner and 3 times softer than your (or rather baby's) average pacifier and comes in its own steriliser and carry box: just pop it in the microwave for 3 minutes and it's germ free.
According to the packaging, it's won a number of awards and was developed with various dental bodies to reduce the pressure on your baby's jaw and growing teeth, reducing the risk of malocclusions. It's also BPA free too.
That said, the jury's out on whether or not this will have any affect on the shape of your child's teeth later on. Let's face it - the first lot are going to fall out and most people need braces, not because of the dummy they had as a kid, but because they sucked their thumb or inherited some unfortunate gene which gives them a set of gnashers like jaws.
A good quality item but it's too early to say if it will do what it claims. It's not cheap either.

Apart from the obvious benefits to baby's teeth (it is noticeably thinner in profile than other soothers or pacifiers) the other advantage of this Soother is that is comes with its own sterilisable case. However because it is so different from most pacifiers there might be a problem if baby is already used to a normal pacifier. At six months, and already used to a normal pacifier baby did not take too well to the MAM Soother, much preferring his regular ones. But no doubt if one starts with the MAM there should be no problems.
While it comes with its own steriliser it does not have a protective cap for when not in use, and while one could use the steriliser it is rather bulky to be practical.

Having heard horror stories about pacifiers resulting in buckteethed children, the promise that this dummy reduces that occurence had me sold. It's an attractive looking, lightweight dummy which comes in its own steriliser, which can also be used for transporting it around day to day, although it IS a rather bulky thing to carry around.
The plentiful gaps in the plastic parts which are in contact with the baby's face made it easier for any residual saliva to dry away, reducing skin irritation. Overall, well worth the money and definitely recommended.
