With a common love of Blues and an appreciation, between them, of various other music forms, they started to win over a small but enthusiastic audience in the various pubs and clubs of Southern England. ... Not having been an 'afficionado' when they were 'big time', this compilation fills in all the gaps in my memory! It's the collection that makes you grin with recognition and reflect that the combination of the rasp-like wail(?) of Anderson's voice worked so uniquely well with the 'semi-acoustic' line-up of the band. Lots of clout when it was called for though - in both the vocal and the percussion departments. A representative cross-section from their most popular era.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great compilation 24 Dec 2011
Format:Audio CD
This was my first Tull LP all those years ago. The track selection covers most of the classic early years apart from the 1st 2 albums where very little is represented. One thing I was a little disappointed with was the sound quality being a bit flat. The same tracks sound considerably better on the re-masters.
The highlight for me on this CD is 'Rainbow Blues' the only track that has not been issued on any other CD. This is a great track and I wonder when it was recorded as no mention in the tiny booklet is shown.

Anyway this is a great CD of classic Jethro Tull and deserves to be heard loud !

Loved this album since it's release in the '70's.
Glad to be able to re-visit it at a very low price.
