Bloomin' hell, what a surprise, this is really good. It has been a long time since I have found a really decent dance music CD. CD1 is more traditional minimal house oriented with a kind of acid house theme running throughout, with some absolutely great old school sounding tracks, but with a more modern production edge.

CD2 is strange and different, but totally compelling. It is less technoish and more, well ecclectic I suppose. Some great sweeping orchestral stuff, right through to cutsey little elctronica numbers.

I think if you are into warm, softish, but still edgy dance music you'll like this. Great variety in tracks, but something holds it together throughout. At the current price too it is an absolute bargain!

This has got to be my favourite mix CD of 2006. It's absolutely brilliant. If you're into the Berlin minimal/tech-house scene, you will love this!

This double cd mix was the first of the tragically short lived 'At the Controls' series, which had a mere 4 installments. M.A.N.D.Y certainly set the series off to a flying start with these excellent mixes. Disc one is more upbeat, bouncy but typically eclectic and bizarre; which really is the M.A.N.D.Y sound. It has a cheeky feel-good vibe that will keep your head nodding and foot tapping throughout.

Disc two is a little different; it takes a deeper turn. After the opening four tracks take a relatively simular mood to the first disc, you find yourself drifting deeper and deeper into a melodic and then meloncholic blend of music. Disc two is simply mesmerising. Most of my favourite tunes on this release feature on this disc, which include Claude Von Stroke's 'Who's Afraid of Detroit?', Heartz4's 'Intimacy Girl' and the fantastic closing blend of Djuma Soundsystem's 'Les Djinns' (Trentmoller mix) and Coldcut's soulful vocal stunner 'Walk a Mile in my Shoes' (Henrik Schwarz mix).

At times the transitions can feel a little blunt, but this fits the general perculiar nature of M.A.N.D.Y's sound. I now own three mix releases by M.A.N.D.Y and both this and their Renaissance mix are fantastic (their fabric mix being the only that occasionally goes bland in patches). Whilst I would just about say the Renaissance is the top of the lot (just?), I would recommend this to newcomers to M.A.N.D.Y's sound ahead of that purely for the price; its £2.87 for two discs - that's 8.2p per track!! you trully have nothing to lose. If you find yourself loving M.A.N.D.Y's bizarre but infectious and melodic style, also check out Agoria's 'At the Controls' mix, which is rather like M.A.N.D.Y's, but darker and more haunting.
