It's always difficult to be objective about bands that you love and this is no different.

My first encounter with The Fuzztones would have been via John Peel or maybe David Jensen way back in the 80's, a primeval sound from the swamp soups of the states. Driven by Rudi Protrudi and Jordan Tarlow, they pumped out a darker version of the Sonics punky nuggets orientated garage rock.

Played on almost 100% Vox equipment the resulting sound was one of the ghostrider, high on LSD screaming through the backwoods of the US in search of a youth movement. Did they find one? Probably not, but that is our loss and one that can be corrected in buying this outrageously great value album.

There are utter gems here that you NEED and I mean need. Cinderella, Journey To Time, She's Wicked are all primal pop gems from a purer time. Each track rocks with a purity, a darkened soul yet a pop heart that means you'll be dancing as well as trembling when they return to your town, which they are threatening to do this year.

This is a magnificent release, dirty, but with a lot of humour mixed in too. Do not hesitate, download the lot and you'll be playing this lot for years to come.

Given that the individual albums are hard to collect this will make a fine (and generous, in terms of duration) introduction to the self proclaimed "gurus of garage grunge" (long before grunge became a household name, mind you). For the uninitiated, Fuzztones play straight 60's style garage psychedelia (Think the Electic Prunes/Seeds/Sonics/Stooges with a bit of The Doors). My only complaint is that the particular cd is way too loud. It's OK for the I-Pod or car stereo but even garage music deserves better sound quality.

I love Fuzztones!!! 11 Oct 2010
By Patricia Koeller - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Ok, so i am very new to Fuzztones music and thank god for Little Steven's Underground Garage because i would have never heard of such great music! Upon listening to the song "I am the Werewolf" for the first time i was hooked. I looked on Youtube for any other song(s) by Fuzztones and every song i heard i thought was great. I purchased Lysergic Legacy about a month ago and i just cannot stop listening to this CD. I must listen to this CD about 2 times a day. Just about every song on the CD is a gem. I would have given this a 5 star rating but there are a couple of songs that are a bit too slow for my taste. I can not believe it took me this long to become familiar with their music! I love it! I love FUZZTONES!

Why is this on CD-R? 4 Sep 2013
By Z - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I'm not sure why Amazon is selling CD-R versions of this. It's an excellent album and definitely worthwhile to buy, but it exists on legitimate, pressed CD. I ought to know - I have a copy. I'm not sure why these are being sold as burn-on-demand when an actual manufactured product exists. And can be had cheaper.

So, please be aware of that. CD-Rs are VERY inferior media, because they're dye-based rather than pressed. The dye fades, like newsprint, and so their lifespan is often less than a year. Meanwhile, I have pressed CDs that are thirty years old and work fine. CD-Rs are good for making a copy of an album to listen to in your car, and you can make another if it's scratched up or fades... but I wouldn't want to add something to my permanent library on that media.

If you like the Fuzztones as much as I do, you're going to want to keep this around for decades. So, I'd keep that in mind and shop around before I bought a CD-R version. I don't buy DVD-R's very often, either, for the same reason. Don't settle for second-class media when there's an alternative.
