Waited for months for this book, after reading all of Ann Rules other books which I really enjoyed. Very disappointed, to say the least. Not up to her usual standard.

I along with my wife have read all the 34 books she has written and we both found this book to be the worst we have read, all the others we have read have been very good.

I've read these books over the years, and usually cover to cover, within a day or two, but this won was a page skimmer. The stories are most, nearing forty years old, and just uninteresting.

I have been a fan of Ann Rule for some years. Her books have faltered a bit lately - but this one is so bad that I felt I had to rate it very poorly. The first main story is not structured, haphazard and lacking in timeline. This seems a complicated story of tragic lives involving baby trafficking, monumental child cruelty as well as a pedophile ring. A very important case in today's world. Unsavoury topic indeed but a writer has the burden of the victim to get the story across and Ms Rule failed miserably. I picked up that she really didn't want to get graphical on this one as if it would soil her sensitivity. Unfortunately phedofilia has been a hidden crime for years and came to the surface with the Internet and secret clubs being more accessable and she should have researched this and not skimmed on it. If you take on the burden of writing people's life stories then they deserve for it to be done properly. I hope the main character in this story goes to another author to have this shocking story told in full (M.William Phelps for example)
In the other stories in this book she goes on to wax lyrical about victims and their families which was akin to sainthood. What old people do when someone dies. (No offence to old people - I'm in my 60's!) Glad she didn't mention Ted Bundy - it's mentioned in all her books that she knew him. That ship has sailed dear. Time for you to retire and not churn out old 70's stories as you do to fill your books. Don't you think there is enough madness going on around us daily to write about without dipping into the past? Not sure if this is an Ebook - reads as bad as one. Of course ..... This is only my opinion M

Waiting for this book for around 2 months and really looking forward to it as I'm an avid Ann Rule reader. Unfortunately very disappointed, not up to her usual standard. Can't put my finger on why but it seemed rushed with very little background on the people featured. One story from 1975 is really out of date-an over 30 year old case, surely plenty of cases more modern.

As always Ann Rule never fails to deliver . She focuses on the human story behind the crime ,and does not in any way try to sensationalise the actual act itself . You will feel as you read , that you actually know the victim and their families ,thoughtfully written , as are all her works .
