Product Description

Review

'The secret of a good travel story is that it makes you want to book your ticket right now. That was my response after reading Tim Skelton's Complete Guide to Luxembourg.' Simon Calder, The Independent --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Product Description

This new Bradt guide is the first English-language guidebook to focus exclusively on the world’s only Grand Duchy. Ready to shake off its ’and Luxembourg’ tag on the travel circuit, this micro-state is home to the rolling forests of the Ardennes, hill-top medieval castles, a string of museums, two UNESCO World Heritage sites, and one of Europe’s smallest wine-growing regions. With first-class accommodation and more Michelin-starred restaurants per capita than anywhere else on earth, this is tourism at its finest.

If you are planning to visit Luxembourg then this is the book for you - so much more information than most guidebooks which only have a chapter on Luxembourg. Having used the authors recommedations for eating out and places to visit I think this book is well researched, well laid-out and right on the mark with its information.

Comprehensive guide 7 Aug 2009
Format:Paperback
it has, up to now, been almost impossible to find a guide book in English exclusively about Luxembourg. This book is brilliant - living in Luxembourg it was frustratin to not be able to find places to go on the weekends. Now there is something for every week. The book is written in a witty tone aswell, which makes it not only useful but enjoyable.

After deciding on impulse to book a break in Luxembourg I was told "nobody" goes to Luxembourg ... so it was quite a relief just to find this guidebook even existed.

Don't be concerned that this is the only Luxembourg guide you can find, it is the one you want! Information on buses, shops, souvenirs, food and restaurants as well as attractions in Luxembourg city, and thankfully the description of my slightly quirky hotel captured its atmosphere accurately. The language annex was very useful too.

Thanks partly to the book, but mostly to the wonderful city, I had a marvellous time. After reading the chapters on the rest of country I did want to explore further, but I fell in love with the city and decided ... oh dear ... I'll have to come back next year. So I can't speak for the accuracy of those parts of the books, but I enjoyed reading them.
