5.0 out of 5 stars A must for anyone exploring Iggy Pop 30 Jun 2013

Some of Iggy's best work as far as I'm concerned and with the collaboration of David Bowie, it would be hard to make a bad track.
Two great albums and excellent value for money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Iggy pop at his utter best 3 May 2012
These two albums are a pure, heavy mix of original garage punk ala pop's earlier work as main man in the stooges and the berlin influences he and Bowie (co songwriter, producer, collaborater) had witnessed while setting up life in the German city, kraftwerk or neu! Meets the stooges and ramones, doesn't sound great but ay! but in fact the fusion between the punk and minimalist electro music works extremely well as it did on Bowie's Berlin trilogy (hear low, heroes and lodger). Lust for life is my preferred favourite over the idiot just because I believe it fits better together as an album, both are great though

5.0 out of 5 stars PERFECT PAIRING 27 Mar 2014

This is one of two albums from Iggy's Berlin period and is the sister album to the more commercially upbeat and accessible 'Lust for Life'.

Disturbing, angular and abrasive, 'the Idiot' is a minor masterpiece and still stands the test of time today.

Bowie's involvement is substantial and he was to resurrect 'China Girl' at a later date, albeit losing the essence of the song in the process.

An extra-ordinary album which isn't immediately accessible, but is superb nevertheless.

The title to the album and the photograph on the cover in many respects says it all - this is a brilliant, vibrant album by a man who is clearly glad to be alive after escaping the excesses of LA and seeking refuge in the relative sanity of Berlin with Bowie.

Lust for Life is loaded with terrific songs, not least the title tracks and 'the Passenger' which has since cropped up on so many sound tracks.

This is a good place to start if you are new to Iggy - it really is a great album.

3.0 out of 5 stars Double Trouble. 10 Sep 2011
Please note that I'm reviewing the product (Lust For Life & The Idiot double pack) and not the music.
If you're interested in liner notes, rare photographs or even credits to who's in the band then don't buy this as it has none of the above, the booklet is practically non-existent with photographs of the album covers and writing credits so tiny I had to use a magnifying glass.
If, on the other hand, you're not bothered about details like who played what and when, then I'd urge you to buy this as it's Iggy at his best.
