I finally managed to tear myself away from the gorgeous creature on the front cover of Lust at First Bite and part the covers. Including stories from the likes of Janine Ashbless, Kristina Lloyd, Portia da Costa and more, this book promised much. Sex and vampires - one of my favourite combinations. I adored similar Black Lace anthologies, such as Lust Bites and Magic and Desire, but for some reason, this one just wasn't quite up there with the best.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's terrible, it just isn't as good as a lot of Black Lace I've read. Perhaps it's because it was more about the bite part than the lust? I'm not sure. Some stories were far superior to others (I'm naming no names) and they had me all of a-shiver, but others were a real let-down. It kind of reminded me of the fairy tale about the little girl - when she was good, she was very, very good, but when she was bad, she was horrid. Lust at First Bite is just that - the stories that were good were excellent, the others were 'meh.'

It's always important to remember that opinions will vary and it might have just been certain writing styles that turned me off, so I don't want to discourage anyone. But I think that if you loved Lust Bites for its sheer sexiness then you'll find something lacking here.

I have to say that I have not read many Black Lace books and certainly none that I would recommend but I would recommend this one. The stories were well written and VERY steamy! My husband did not know what had gotten into me but is a very happy man!!! My favorites are 'Only the Beagining' by Terri Pray and 'Theres a Sucker Born Every Minute' by Sommer Marsden (the dream sequence was out of this world)! But bravo to all the authors for managing to still add elimants of suspence and (in some cases) gore in a (dare I say) tasteful way.But be warned, there are some who would be uncomfortable with some of the very explicit stories but that's Black Lace for you!!! I would read another like this in the hope that it would be just as hot as Lust At First Bite!I must go now...its a bit hot all of a sudden...must have...er...a lie down?!!!
