This has revolutionised my cooking!! Goodbye swollen belly due to pasta - hello amazing courgette pasta and bolognaise! What's even better is that when you make courgete pasta or carotte pasta ect... you feel as if you were eating pasta. Admitedly, I will always turn to pasta if I feel like my favourite (tomato, chilli, garlic, olive oil and a sometimes prawns) but for everything else, this is amazing. I have even found an incredible raw pad thai which I plan on trying!
Also, the suction pads are ok, not perfect but you can work around that.

I absolutely love this gadget! Since receiving it a week ago, I've used it almost daily. It makes terrific long ribbons of vegetables that look stylish and add a different dimension to a meal.

A tip: if you are making a noodle or spaghetti dish, make 1/3 of the usual amount and a few minutes before the end of cooking, toss in your pile of spiralised carrots or courgettes, mix them up with the noodles/spaghetti and then serve as usual. Spag Bol is now a healthy, low-starch meal.

Well, I hoped it would transform our vegetable eating and that my kids would be wolfing their five a day.

The truth is it won't. I thought that the spirals would come easier, but a whole core of a carrot is lost and many of my carrots are too narrow for the gorgeous spirals of carrots that we hoped for.

But, the kids are excited about it and we are doing it a lot, we just end up with a lot of pretty expensively cut carrots.

It's very easy to use, however it is quite bulky and hard to store. Also, the centre of anything you want to spiral is wasted as it removes a small core as it spins.

This is a fantastic idea for a product, but feels flimsy, lightweight and poorly designed.

Although it work OK, and I won't complain about the food it produces, the razor sharp piece of metal that pinions the center of the vegetable, effectively cores whatever you are spiralling. This is fine for courgettes but for carrots, potatoes and anything else it's just wasteful and restricts the minimum diameter of the vegetables you can use. The vertical version of this product does not do this, I don't see why this one should.

Another restriction to the size of the vegetable is the rotating foot of the machine that holds the vegetables in place, the spikes are too widely spaced apart and simply will not hold narrower vegetables in place.

There's no need for the extra handle to slide the platform along, horizontal pressure as you turn the handle is enough, plus the machine isn't sturdy enough to stand up to much pressure.

The handle is set too low to the base of the moving platform, anyone with normal size hands is constantly rapping their knuckles against it.

It's a real shame as this is a brilliant way to prepare food. If I was to buy again I would get the cheapest version of the upright one available.

Someone should make a high quality stainless steel version that's properly thought through.

So far as I can tell this Lurch spiral slicer is exactly the same model as others you'll see on this site and others, the only difference is that this one is cream in colour with pale green contrast. The bulid is good, well balanced with suction feet to keep the unit stable. The blades are very sharp. The whole thing is easy to use and easy to clean. Not the most compact thing, though, so might not be ideal if you have limited space.

It's not as complicated as it looks - I spent a moment or two looking at it, along with the pictures in the manual, and realised it's actually very nicely designed and quite intuitive to use. The spare blades store away neatly in the side of the machine and pop out when you click the little green buttons, the main blade comes out easily for cleaning, and once you've secured the vegetable onto the holding spikes you can have thinly-sliced lovely fresh healthy vegetables in seconds. I have used it every day since I got it - quicker and more fun to turn a handle than stand there chopping.

PS Edited to add - do be careful with the blades! Despite reading the warnings (each blade has a warning about its sharpness taped over it so you are forced to read before use) I still managed to nick myself trying to wiggle the leftover core of a carrot out from where it was stuck. My own fault!

The spiraliser has transformed my way of eating. After deciding to give up eating pasta (and all wheat-based products) I was lost without my favourite dishes like spaghetti bolognese and carbonara. The spiraliser has enabled me to enjoy eating spaghetti bolognese with courgette noodles instead of pasta. And I love 'em!

I've even used the spiraliser on harder vegetables, like carrots. It worked pretty well, but i needed an extra pair of hands to hold down the machine as the little suckers on the feet disnt stick very well to my worktop. I've read somewhere that swede makes great noodles - very close texture to spaghetti - but I've not tried it yet and I do wonder if the rotating device would be sturdy enough to hold up to the resistance of the swede.

It's a bit tricky to clean, as the blades are very sharp and there's a few nooks and crannies. I've found the best way is to let the blade attachment soak for a bit before cleaning it.

We'll be using the spiraliser this week to make courgette and carrot noodles instead of egg noodles in Jamie Oliver's Fiery Noodle Salad to accompany Satay Chicken. Can't wait!

I love the spiraliser and it's great value for money.
