Product Description

How do Bodyclock dawn simulators work?

Bodyclock Elite 300 wakes you up gradually with a simulated sunrise. The brightening light brings you gently out of sleep, prompting your body to suppress the sleep hormone melatonin while increasing hormones like cortisol to help you get up and go. It provides a fantastic start to the day for sufferers of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and helps non-morning people to feel brighter and more energetic.

Waking to natural light resets your sleep/wake cycle and has been shown to boost your mood, productivity and energy levels all day. Our physiological body clocks are aligned by sunrise and sunset and can be thrown into disarray by modern life. We feel tired and stressed waking early for work or school. Bodyclock restores the rhythm, helping you feel awake during the day and ready to sleep at night.

Rich suite of features for perfect mornings and nights

With Elite 300 you can customise the sunrise and sunset settings, and draw on the sound of AM/FM radio , spoken word, white noise, sleep meditation tracks or music from your own MP3 tracks. It can be used as a normal bedside light, and comes with with a snooze function, back-up beeper and power back-up.

Bodyclock Elite 300 is a certified medical device EC93/42

Designed to help with SAD, winter blues and other waking and sleeping difficulties, it conforms to European standards and carries the correct CE mark. Bodyclock has been proven effective by clinical trials and comes with clear usage guidelines.

I don't normally write reviews but thought I would for this product. I've had my Lumie Bodyclock for nearly three years and can honestly say, I wouldn't be without it. I use a 30 minute sunrise in the morning to help me get up and this is particularly helpful when it's dark outside in winter.

I also really like the sunset. I find that when I use it in the evening, I often can't remember the light going out as by that time I've already drifted off to sleep!

The radio element is also a great option if I want to listen to music after I'm awake and I do sometimes use the guided sleep sounds as I find it relaxing listening to the lapping sound of waves as I can imagine I'm on a beach!

Do Not Buy 6 Jun 2011
I am now on my second Lumie Elite as the first one simply stopped working and had to be replaced. The second one then developed some peculiar habits. If I use it as a reading light, it turns itself off after an hour and a half and then refuses to let me turn it on again. If I wait for a few minutes and try again, it turns on, only to turn itself off again four minutes later. I have been told by Lumie that this is normal and that an hour and a half if an excessive time to read for. Also, the menu keeps changing with items disappearing and reappearing apparently randomly. Add to this the fact that whatever time I set the alarm to, it defaults to 7 am and I am pretty fed up. When I told Lumie about these problems, they simply chose not to answer me and explained that I might be having problems with the "complicated" menu. My reply that I had been in the tech industry, specifically in software development for more than 10 years, cut no ice at all and the sales manager continued to maintain that I had misunderstood the device.

All in all a dreadful experience and I would recommend that you did not buy one, or if you really feel you must, buy from a retailer with a really good returns policy. You may well need it.

love it 21 Jan 2011
It has made a huge difference, I have always hated alarm clocks and the thought of being woken up by anything noisy fills me with dread. I have had this for just over a year now, it was my Christmas present from my partner and I simply love it. At the beginning I thought the light would be more "sun like" rather than just a normal looking bulb, but it does work, especially in the winter as the light is very soft to begin with and increases in intensity within 30 minutes and it's never failed to wake me up. There are various alarm choices, of the acoustic variety too in fact, should you need these, and I have loved the 'flash' alarm which I have used in the summer when outside was light enough for the sunrise alarm not to make much difference. The "flash" alarm will flash the light rather than increase in intensity gradually, thus waking you up with no noise. Bliss. The overall results are amazing, no more waking up grumpy and with headaches and just wishing I was still in bed. Instead my mind has had time to adjust to being awake gradually. For insomniacs the range of relaxing sessions to listen in bed are rather good, or if you own your own sleep induction files you can put them on a memory card and plug them in (or whichever music you want to listen too to fall asleep or to wake up with). I would recommend it especially to people who like me are unable to simply open their eyes and bounce out of the bed ready for the day.
