Product Description

Product Description

From the land we now call Iraq, comes the story of a young prince's extraordinary adventures. On his way to war with his older brothers, Lugalbanda meets the goddess Inana and the magical Anzu bird, who gives him the power to be strong, tireless and to run like lightning. Lugalbanda uses his new powers to help resolve the war peacefully and goes on to become a great ruler in his own right. Older than the Bible, the Koran and the Greek and Roman myths, this story was discovered written on ancient clay tablets and was deciphered by scholars from around the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful story my son has liked from age 4-9 (so far), 13 Oct 2011

This review is from: Lugalbanda: The Boy Who Got Caught Up in a War (Paperback)
Although the artwork is not as stunning as the Gilgamesh Trilogy, the writing is better. Fascinating on many levels, you can discuss flattery, family loyalty, wars of aggression and jealousy, the role of gods, and just what the average Sumarian thought was important. The intro and coda are interesting to my 9 year old, too.
