Like most 30 somethings(28 here), I was lucky enough to be a kid in the late 80's-90's and first saw this on Reading Rainbow in the 3rd grade. I've never forgotten it for some reason; I don't know why I remembered it so well at such a young age. As an adult, I can more than relate to Ludlow, the comparison has actually crossed my mind quite a bit over the years. We somehow lose our life energy as we age, our happiness and satisfaction with just "being" dissipates with every passing year until we become--to some degree--Ludlows. It's a sad thing...maybe someday we'll all have our dream too :-).
