Lucky disasters documents printing test patterns, or Overprints, produced when setting up design jobs. The inception of the test print was a budget decision as opposed to an artistic expression. Working out ink inconsistencies by re-printing a previously printed test sheet saves paper costs.The relevance of an Overprint is in it's resourcefulness. Layering source imagery by happenstance (image availability and sequence based on design job succession) presents a design problem that is solved with painstaking patience and unimaginable surprises. For in this endeavour, and eye for pre-existing compositional integrity separates artistic genius from just another piece of trash.
