I bought this present for my friend who had just returned from a year traveling around the world. He loved being able to scratch off all the places he had visited. A nice way of seeing what is left to see.

i was really excited for this present at xmas until i started scratching the countries off and found that there all practically the same!! england is green russia is green india is green china is green. all of north america is blue all of south america purple. the only interesting continent is africa which goes from yellow to red. its not hard to split the countries into different colours like a regular map manages to do. it also misses out certain places the Galapagos and easter island to name a few and many travelers that would like this gift may have been there for them to not even be on the map. the more i've had it the more disappointed i am.

Very nice idea for anyone who is interested in travelling. The film is easy to scratch off to reveal countries you have been to. The map comes in a very nice cardboard tube with tissue paper inside to prevent the map from being scratched during transit. That said, however, great care must be taken when removing the map from the tube as it would be easy to scratch any of the gold off. Also, you must be really careful when scratching off the countries as it's sometimes not that easy to see where two countries border and once you scratched off the wrong area there's nothing you can do.

Ok but very hard to scratch off the gold.
Lovely map, great idea, but it is very difficult to remove the gold foil. I gouged the USA in several places trying to remove the overlay.
