Product Description

THE END IS NIGH! Exploding from the pages of Neil Gaiman's multi-award winning Sandman comes the latest chapter in the former ruler of Hell's extraordinary existence, as Lucifer continues his quest to break free of God's influence and forge his own destiny. The Lightbringer faces a deadly new threat - posed by a very old god - to both his Creation and that of Yahweh. Can he stop the machinations of Fenris before the Apocalypse comes crashing down on two universes? Also featured in this collection are the special 40-page story "Lilith", focusing on Mazikeen's mother, illustrated by award-winner P. Craig Russell; and "Neutral Ground", illustrated by Gloomcookie creator Ted Naifeh.

Format:Paperback
This is the 8th book in the continuing series chronicling the tale of Lucifer, Morningstar "First of the Fallen".
Mike Carey has created an incarnation of Lucifer who is both devil and angel, proud and terrifying, but rational and philosophical.
The series really has to be read from the start and in sequence, but it contains stories of great depth. The themes of freedom and creativity are drawn out through powerful metaphors and cloaked in the guise of horror/fantasy. There is some sly humour and plenty of action to keep the casual reader interested and the art is uniformly excellent but it is the philosophical/metaphysical aspect that makes this a book for mature readers rather than the occasionally graphic violence.

In addition to the 4 part story " The Wold Beneath the Tree", this book also features two excellent stand alone stories "Lilith" and " Neutral Ground".
"Neutral Ground" is an interesting side-story about a guy who is possessed by demons.

The pick of the lot is "Lilith" which has an excellent story about Adams first wife and her part in "the fall" . It also features exceptional art from P Craig Russell.

If you've been buying the earlier books don't stop now.
If you haven't started yet, please do. This stuff is in the same league as Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" and no mistake.
