2nd in a great series 26 July 2003
Format:Paperback
Continuing on from "Devil in the Gateway", Lucifer is as cool, menacing and in control as ever. A spin off from the Sandman Series, Lucifer does not disappoint.

Just be aware that this is the 2nd book in the series and that you really do need to read "Devil in the Gateway" first, otherwise you will be bewildered with an array of characters who made their appearance in the first book.

If you enjoyed Sandman and you enjoyed the 1st Lucifer book then you will most certainly enjoy Children and Monsters.

Superb! 23 Oct 2002

If you've read the Sandman series you will already have come across Lucifer and in this series he is even bigger and badder. Lucifer is now not content with owning a bar and playing piano anymore, he's after a bigger prize. Sufficient to say that it involves Japanese gods, demons and war with heaven to allow Lucifer to gain his ends - all with complete disreguard for anyone who may cross his path. The storylines from the previous book are continued and expanded to allow Lucifer some "human" interaction and enough new plot lines are inserted to keep me wanting to see what happens.

Overall 5 stars - a superb piece of fantasy comic writing

Oy! 7 Nov 2002
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Having just finished this second book in the Lucifer series, I am still not disappointed. The follow-up to 'Devil in the Gateway' (which I also highly recommend) gives us an increasingly cool Lucifer who now is facing the wrath of Heaven's all angels. As is expected, really...

Children and Monsters is even better and bigger, and Lucifer is calculating and totally unpredictable. In my personal view, the graphics are better in 'Devil in the Gateway'.

If you haven't done so already, I would suggest reading The Sandman series by Gaiman, which is where the character Lucifer is first introduced. In my opinion, Carey does a fantastic job in taking on Lucifer in this spin-off series. He writes beautifully compelling stories. You shouldn't be disappointed.
