I happened upon this book at my local library. The title alone was enough to get my attention, then I saw the list of authors whose works are contained within the pages of this wonderful book. It reads like a Who's Who of great Modern writers. The list includes, but is not llimited to the following; Winston Churchill, Agatha Christie, Robert Graves, C.S. Forester, Sinclair Lewis, F. Scott Fitzgerald, William Faulkner, Raymond Chandler, John Steinbeck, Truman Capote, John Updike and 12 other literary greats.
The stories included here were for the most part never reprinted once published. They vanished to obscurity while the authors works in more traditional fields have been reprinted continiously.
Somehow knowing that for example, John Updike, also thought about and wrote horror or thrillers makes reading his massive tomes less threatening to myself. The same applies to all the authors included in this great collection.
