"The best mainstream comic currently being published..." - Jockey Slut"

Product Description

Exploding from the pages of Neil Gaiman's multi-award winning Sandman comes the latest chapter in the former ruler of Hell's extraordinary existence, as Lucifer continues his quest to break free of God's influence and forge his own destiny. The war between the forces of Heaven and Hell finally erupts into a full-scale siege of the Silver City. As Fenris advances on the primum mobile, God's seat of power, intent on destroying everything, Lucifer must look to old allies and enemies alike to save both his own creation and God's...but at what cost? This tenth volume in this acclaimed series weaves multiple narratives into a complex and gripping ongoing story. Warning: Adults Only!

top-notch fantasy 21 Oct 2006
Format:Paperback
I've been following the Lucifer graphic novel series for a couple of years now, and the is the penultimate edition. It is also one of the best. Like many such things, Lucifer started strong, lulled in the middle but then returned to form by the end. Characters established early in the series play prominant roles in the twists and turns of this gripping story involving the fate of creation (three of them, in fact), which as one reviewer has noted, would serve as an effective end to the series as it is. The characterisation is excellent, with the titular character showing both dependence and manipulation in equal measure. We even get a conversation with God. Can you ask for anymore?

This is the second to last book of the series, but contains events which could easily be described as the climax.

Mike Carey has written an astonishingly well thought out and imaginative epic which, in my opinion, has outstripped its roots (in Neil Gaiman's Sandman).

Carey (and his artistic collaborators) have sustained a narrative arc over 1000 pages of 'comic book' to produce a work which is worthy of the title 'Graphic Novel'.

My only complaint is that the last book will have to be damned special to top this one.

This series is beautifully drawn throughout with tight characterization, great dialogue and more than a few plot twists. I cannot recommend it highly enough, but please start at the beginning, this is not an appropriate place to join the story.

Along with all the Lucifer series. If you enjoyed the Sandman series, this is a must read.
