Very different from Matt's previously acoustic/loop albums, and more in common with his band(The Fierce and the Dead),this is an adventurous 40 minutes or so of excellent music(hate using the word "progressive"in case it scares people off,but ....). Hard to define,so why bother. The shorter tracks all work brilliantly, but "the Bridge" really is the highlight with some epic playing. A terrific guitarist on a highly creative run at the moment. Enjoy....

Heard good words of Matt Stevens through a mate who has very wide musical tastes, not always meeting with mine, who gigs most weekend days throughout the year. Then heard that Matt Stevens was supporting Lifesigns at their first gig that I was going too. Well live he is simply awesome, you cannot understand how one man make so much melody, and the album is that squared! If you have a musical bone in you body then you must buy this. Possibly one of the best guitarist of our time.

Matt makes great instrumental music. It's all about emotions and textures and layers rather than just showing off technique. He's also a great bloke who bought me a pint when we met at one of his gigs :)

This new CD by Matt Stevens is brilliant!!! Definitely a "progression" in terms of content from Matt, with a few tracks like Street and Circus in a acoustic looper vein of his previous albums Ghost and Relic, while tracks like The Bridge show his love of Mr Fripp in his Red period and are closer to his work with The Fierce and The Dead. Not a duff track on it!!! :-)

Taking the cue from his band, The Fierce and the Dead, Matt Stevens latest solo release is a more concentrated effort, foregoing the more laid back vibe of his previous solo releases. A master and champion of the looping technique, Stevens keeps moving the game on to brighter and somewhat quirkier pastures to give something technically brilliant but, also accessible for the less initiated.
