5.0 out of 5 stars Mega-Volume Of Freud Paintings 1 July 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This large edition, which comes in a protective cardboard case, is the definitive collection of Lucien Freud's life in painting. This amazing painter ranks up there with the Old Masters in their ability to bring painted flesh alive. Its truly amazing what he has accomplished in a century that turned its back on representational images. I saw the sole Freud painting hanging in the Art Institute of Chicago yesterday, and it puts the other nearby contemporary works to shame.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Notable Look at an Important Artist 30 Dec 2007
By Daniel L. Berek - Published on Amazon.com
My objective is not to review the work of Lucian Freud; I am not an art critic. The purpose of this review, then, is to shine light on an important work on an important artist. This book is a catalog of the first retrospective exhibition, organized by the Arts Council of Great Britain at the Hayward Gallery, London, in 1974; the exhibit toured several other art galleries. As such, it is an important document showing 132 of his works; a thoughtful introduction by John Russell puts the collection in perspective.
