More About the Author

Tom Holt's first book was published when he was just thirteen and, to his horror, he was hailed as an infant prodigy. While studying at Oxford, however, he discovered bar billiards and turned from poetry to comic fiction.

About the Author

Tom Holt was born in 1961 in London, England. His first book, ‘Poems By Tom Holt’, was published when he was twelve years old. While he was still a student at Oxford he wrote two sequels to E F Benson’s Lucia series. After an undistinguished seven-year stint as a lawyer, he became a full-time writer in 1995 and has published over thirty novels. Tom lives with his wife and daughter in the west of England. As well as writing, he raises pigs and pedigree Dexter cattle. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Unlike the recent forays into E F Benson's world and characters, Tom Holt has created a totally Lucian situation completely congruous with Benson's at all times. None of the characters say or do anything that is unbelievable or out of character with the originals. The plot is hightly amusing, and as usual our two adversaries - Mapp and Lucia are battling for social supremacy in Tilling. Mapp becomes a fervent motorist, until informed that she has to have a license and Lucia sets about organising the townsfolk to create a Bayeaux type tapestry. The outcome despite several setbacks, is never in doubt - Lucia Triumphant.
I love this addition to Lucia books as much as I did 'Lucia in Wartime' and I only wish Tom Holt would write more.
He must be a great E F Benson fan to write with such exactitude and affection.Lucia Triumphant

This book keeps closely to Benson's style, and does not have the characters doing anything untoward, as I believe from reviews some other continuations have. It is a pleasant way of passing some time back in the thirties. The voice feels right, apart from a slight weakness around clothes, where Benson was masterly. If you have read all the Benson's, I'd recommend this, I'll certainly read the other one available on Kindle.

Brilliant! Totally in the spirit of E F Benson, great plot and all the characters are true to form. Witty and clever. It's outrageous that this book should be out of print!

I really enjoyed reading more of the goings-on of this wonderful little community. Pure escapism at its very finest! Who could ask for more!

Well almost as good as Benson. A good story and retains the flavour of the Benson books. Well done
I loved it all the way through

Again, Tom Holt has seamlessly taken over from EF Benson. Lucia is completely in character, and so is the ghastly Mapp woman. More please, Mr Holt.
