The Lowepro Nova 160 AW is the ideal choice for photographers seeking superior weather protection in a comfortable and functional shoulder bag. Popular and timeless, the Lowepro Nova suits a variety of photography types and scenarios. Its is a practical choice for the enthusiast or professional and allows you to organise, protect and use your gear with ease. All-around utility features include an overflap lid to increase protection from the elements, dual memory card pockets plus a padded strap and cushioned grab handle tailored for comfort and durability.

Organisation

The large main compartment design enables easy access to camera and accessories whilst still being secured with an overflap lid and security buckle. The adjustable dividers within the bag have stitched hinges to allow customisation of the internal compartment depending on your personal kit and requirements.

The internal zippered, mesh and slash pockets make organisation easy and give each accessory its own location. A front pocket provides safe and accessible storage for batteries, small accessories and other necessities. Memory card pockets on the inside front lid also ensure cards are protected and available for quick changes.

What it fits

The Nova 160 AW is the mid-size in the Nova range of products and fits a good enthusiast kit such as a DSLR with lens attached (18-55mm or 17-85mm f/3.5-5.6), 1-2 additional lenses; 2 memory cards and a flash unit as a guide.

Quality construction

All Lowepro products are created with quality fabrics and techniques. The Nova 160 AW is constructed from rugged nylon and polyester outer fabric yet the interior has been constructed of soft protective material specifically designed to help protect sensitive digital equipment. The padded grab handle and removable shoulder strap with non-slip pad provide a range of comfortable carrying options.

360°All Weather Cover

The All Weather Cover provides 360° of protection from the elements while allowing you to work out of the bag in all weather conditions. The cover is built-in and hidden neatly in the bottom of your bag ready for when you need it most to protect gear from rain, dust and sand. Even better, you still have complete access to the bag’s internal pockets whilst the cover is in use.

Airport Friendly

The Nova 160’s exterior dimensions are only 204 x 17.5 x 22cm and its weight around 0.5kg meaning it can fit within a number of the international guidelines for carry-on luggage. Please note that airline carry-on regulations are subject to change and vary by airline and country.

I wanted a small compact bag to carry around my Canon 1000D DSLR camera in and after browsing around the shops, this seemed to be the best option for me.

    INNER DESIGN

The main compartment has two removable dividers which you can adjust by sticking them to the strips of velcro inside the bag. This is handy and flexible if you really needed to organise and hold items into place but at the same time, it can make removing items a little difficult because they tend to catch onto the velcro. The hot shoe did this quite often when taking out the vertically placed 1000D but, you do learn how to take it out without any difficulty eventually.

I've managed to find enough room to fit a 18-55mm kit lens and a 55-250mm telephoto lens inside. It feels well cushioned.

You'll also find two smaller pockets for memory cards inside when you unzip and lift up the hood of the bag. Even some space for something such as pens and pencils.

    OUTER DESIGN

The hood overlaps the zips to the main compartment which means if it rains you don't have to worry too much about any excess water seeping inside to your equipment. Very nice touch.

Outside on the back of the bag there is a narrow pocket big enough for filters, batteries, lens hoods, small notepad etc. At each side of the bag where the strap clips onto are two elastic pockets which I don't really use but I found they're flexible enough to fit a bottle of Volvic water if you wanted to or just some rolled up pamphlets.

Last but not least, there is another two zipped up pockets at the front of the bag as you can see from the photo. Handy for holding the lens caps or filters when you just want to remove them temporarily.

I bought this bag for a Nikon D90. I wanted something initially to carry the camera fitted with the 18 - 105 kit lens only, but with room for a couple of additional lenses and a flashgun etc as I expand my kit. This was ideal, being neither too small or too big. It is very well made with lots of additional secure pockets for memory cards, filters etc. The bag also comes with a waterproof cover which pulls out of a flap in the base. The bag can still be opened when this is in place. A recent trip to Scotland with it's inherent variable weather proved it's worth. All in all an excellent buy.

Well I got this bag for my self for xmas 09, and I am very impressed! My only complaint- I wish I got a smaller size, maybe the 180. The reason I got this model was that I have my digital and film SLRs, and so I wanted a bag that was designed to hold 2 camera bodies. But I am sure that the 180 would be more than big enough- however I do like the idea that ALL my camera gear can be stored away in one place when at home. The all weather cover (after a few trials) is great- and works; and the shoulder strap and handle are very comfy to use. I was very pleased with the amount of dividers included, I've made no end of different configurations deciding on how to store my gear; and the amount of little zipped pockets is great!

So, if you've got a lot of kit (like 5 lenses and 2 bodies) and want to carry it all at once- I highly recommend this bag! And if you want a bag to store all your kit away when not in use- this bag will be great. BUT if, like me, you want a bag that you actually feel half-comfy taking places, then I would go for no bigger than the Lowepro nova 180.

And just to put things in perspective- In this bag I can store:
a Sony a200 DSLR with standard zoom attached,
    charger and UK lead,
data cables and remote release for the Sony,
Canon EOS 650 film SLR with 50mm 1.8 attached,
    420EZ (a big) flash,
8 rolls of film in boxes,
Minolta x300 film SLR with 28mm lens attached,
a telephoto zoom lens for the minolta,
a standard zoom and 2x teleconverter for the minolta,
    and about 6 filters!

So like I say- a great bag for storing your full kit or if you're a pro and need to take a lot with you. Other wise, it's just a bit too big!

Any way the conclusion I came to was that I'll use this great bag to store my kit when it's at home... and get me a nova 170 or 180 to take my kit with me when I go out somewhere!

    Hope this helps!

I bought this bag when I up-graded from an EOS 400D to an EOS 5D. Recently I have up-graded my lenses. I was surprised when I didn't have to up-grade my bag, hence this review.

So, what's in the bag? I have:

EOS 5D with BG-E4 battery grip attached.
    A spare EOS 5D
Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L II IS
    Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L
Canon Lens Extension Tube EF 12 II
    Canon 580EXII
    Giottos GTAA1900 Rocket Air Blower
    Delamax Diffusor Softbox

    In the front pockets:

    Eclipse Cleaning System Solution
PEC-PAD Photowipes for Photographic Emulsion, 100 Sheets 4x4
    6 spare 5D batteries
    8 spare AA batteries
    Black Rapid RS-7 Camera Strap

It's all a nice snug fit and due to its size, one would never tell it has so much expensive equipment in it. This is the main reason I like it. It also as pockets for flash cards, lens pens, WB cards...

I wrote this review to let others know what it's capable of holding and I hope it helps.
