5.0 out of 5 stars Just right for those "light gear days" 10 Jan 2013
Style Name:Event Messenger 150| Colour Name:Mica|Verified Purchase
Great for those days when its not all about photography but you want a lightweight SLR and and lenses with you. It is not designed for pro bodies such as the Nikon D3.
I can comfortably fit into it:
1 small dSLR (Nikon D5100) with a pro 17-50mm f/2.8 lens attached
1 compact 55-200 zoom
1 Sigma 10-20
1 Fisheye
1 10" tablet (iPad size)
This would be enough for a touristy day around town. Even with all this in the bag I could add a pro lens 70-200 f/2.8 should the need ever arise.
The separate zip up compartment is fine for pens, notepad, spare batteries. There's a dedicated pocket with Velcro fastening for flash memory (SD or CompactFlash).
There is a external pocket suitable suitable for maps and documents. Also there are 2 external elasticated pockets to hold small (up to 500cc) drink bottles.
The shoulder strap is adjustable and has a wide comfortable pad which has a non-slip surface on the inside.
The bag has been well designed by someone who understands what a photographer needs. It looks smart and well made. The main compartment is well padded with more than enough padded Velcro attached dividers. I think I have finally found the ideal bag for those "light gear days"

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent bag, compact yet spacious 19 July 2012
By Boz
Style Name:Event Messenger 150|Colour Name:Mica
I've only had this bag a month or so, and I can't attest to its longevity, but I was very surprised at the quality of this bag for such a reasonable price.

I wanted something that didn't look particularly like a photo bag, and this pretty much fits the bill. Its padded nature kind of gives it away a little bit, but at least the Lowepro logo is nondescript (and can be easily covered) and it's not black and chunky.

It is also surprisingly roomy. I wanted something smallish which could also hold all my lenses, and this does very well. I have a Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 which is big and heavy, and I can slide it into the bag and still close the cover. Just. I can also fit in my semi-pro DSLR with 50mm lens, a short prime and a wide zoom, plus have extra space for a battery charger if I need to. I wouldn't worry about the tablet part of the bag... there's no way a tablet is easily going in there with a bunch of camera gear too. And the front pocket is big enough for memory cards, pens, etc. There's no way to attach a tripod or any other pouch, though.

The covering seems to repel water well, and the strap is wide and comfortable. There are velcro fastenings which can be folded back (so you don't have to use them) and a plastic buckle for closing the cover. The velcro is a little annoying because I would like to use it, but it makes a godawful noise when you open the bag... and since I shoot a lot in music venues, it's not the best. Folding the velcro back means that the cover bulges out awkwardly. I think I would have preferred to see two buckles or some alternative means of fastening.

All-in-all, a good back for the money. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Discrete but spacious 5 Aug 2012
By Dave
Style Name:Event Messenger 250| Colour Name:Mica|Verified Purchase
Having ummed and arred for ages over what bag to buy, I finally chose this one, and I really like it. It doesn't scream "I've got a grand's-worth of camera gear here" so it's a good choice for holiday destinations. I put my EOS550D + 15-85mm lens, 100mm macro, 100-300mm zoom, 2X converter, flash gun, spare batteries/cards, cables, remote release, time release, filter and more, and there's still room for an iPad/notebook and a can of coke etc. and it's still not too heavy to lug around all day with you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Messenger bag for my OM-D 26 May 2013
Style Name:Event Messenger 100| Colour Name:Black|Verified Purchase
I bought this for my OM-D, in the main compartment it holds the OM-D with the Panasonic 20mm pancacke attached plus a 14mm Panasonic pancake plus the Olympus 45mm f1.8 along with the olympus 40-150mm and the Olympus 12-50mm lens, plus the OM-D's clip on flash.
The Olympus horizontal grip stays attached to the OM-D body and the battery grip sits in one of the side pockets.
Then I have 3 Hitech GND filters slipped in the back pocket, 3 58mm screw in filters stacked in the front pocket with front and back caps attached, 2 spare batteries, one wired shutter release and a lens pen are also in the front pocket.
Does it fit in easily? Only if you take the time to work it all out first, once done and remembered its a breeze and everything is nice and snug in a pretty small bag. Try doing that with a DSLR and equivelent lens kit

5.0 out of 5 stars Great bag 8 Dec 2012
By Chris S
Style Name:Event Messenger 250| Colour Name:Mica|Verified Purchase
I was a bit worried when I bought this that there wouldn't be enough room in it, wrong. Its so cleverly designed that you can get a medium sized DSLR with a couple of lenses including a 30mm, flash gun etc there are a couple of small elasticated pockets at each end ideal for keeping spare battery and memory cards at the ready. The front flap has a good idea with either a clip for quick access or Velcro and clip for more security. Very comfortable on the shoulder but the small grip handle on the top back not so good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good space / size balance 15 Jan 2014
By M C
Style Name:Event Messenger 150| Colour Name:Mica|Verified Purchase
I have a couple of Lowepro bags. It's a funny thing that I always look around at other brands, and even if some of those other brands are probably a bit more stylish, I always end up buying Lowepro - they generally produce solid, sensible bags at reasonable prices.
In terms of looks, the 'squareness' of it is a little odd compared to a 'real' messenger bag, but it's not that noticeable and I quite like the colour compared to a black bag.

My main bag for the past 3 1/2 years has been a Lowepro Flipside 200, which although a reasonably small bag had enough room for 30D body with mid-sized zoom plus two other mid-sized zooms, plus a prime or maybe a flash and a bunch of other stuff. The access method was clever, but do I need all that to go out for a day? Do I really want to put that strap round my waist and then swing the bag forwards around my back every time I want to get something out? Well I was getting a bit tired of it, to the point where I was carrying my camera around on my back but not taking it out because I couldn't really be bothered to take it off my back in the first place. Even though the quality of the bag was very good I wanted to try a messenger style bag to make changing lenses and getting the camera in and out easier. I wanted to embrace the idea of carrying less and shooting more (or better).

This bag holds slightly less, however it would easily be possible to get a prosumer body with zoom + 2x zoom + a prime if necessary, although it would all get a little difficult to access with the camera also in there.
