From the Manufacturer

The Trusted Original

Lowepro was born from one daring mountaineer’s desire to capture some of the world’s most unexplored beauty spots, with just a camera in tow. Greg Lowe made it his mission to create only the best in innovative, cutting-edge equipment, to protect extreme sporting lovers’ cameras and cinematography equipment from the heart-pounding elements.

The humble Colorado garage beginning of the world’s first Internal Frame Backpack in 1967 pays tribute to Lowe’s enduring belief that he could be the one to design a close-fitting and supportive backpack to transport camera and recording equipment that had otherwise never been seen before. Climbers, mountain bikers, skiers and hikers could now comfortably carry their equipment to heights that only they had known, capturing intimate sights for the rest of the world to see.

Lowe’s first defying feat paved the way for the original Soft-sided Protective Camera Bag, also to be the first of its time.

And with that, the Lowepro mark took off. Fast forward to today and Lowepro has seen the creation of the first ever waterproof camera backpack, and continues to innovate each year to keep up with the demands of a fast-paced, ever changing world of technology and photography.

A stylish camera bag

Long gone are the days of the bulky camera bag. Delight in a camera bag that is both streamlined and stylish with the Event Messenger series. Available in a fashionable mica or black colour, this messenger style camera bag works well both on shoot and during days out, when having a camera with you to catch those unforgettable moments is essential.

A large front zippered pocket provides organised storage space for essential day accessories and smaller items to avoid incurring any damage to your equipment.

Store your camera equipment and personal items in a place that is convenient for you. With the Event Messenger series, you’ll benefit from quick access to your belongings thanks to fast-opening Velcro and hook/ loop fasteners. Access all interior contents by unbuckling the overhead flap, with a double zippered front pocket that can be both buckled and zipped to keep the bag streamlined and provide added protection at the same time.

The pocket on the reverse of the bag is kept secure with Velcro- and is perfectly sized to store notepads or other slim personal items. Stretch side pockets offer additional space for quick-grab items such as water bottles or further equipment.

A sleek bag that offers plenty of space within

Wear the event messenger on the shoulder or across the body for a stylish day bag that has all the functionality of a camera bag. Camera equipment is kept safe and secure during photo shoots and day trips thanks to a discreet design that doesn’t alert people to the contents carried within. Hook/ loop fasteners secure each of the flap lids, adding further protection to your gear when travelling, and help to minimise the bulkiness of the bag whilst offering plenty of room within.

The overhead flap unbuckles to reveal the padded, adjustable divider system of the main compartment, which can be altered to fit the precise dimensions of your CSC or DSLR and equipment for closer cushioning. A padded tablet compartment can be found in the central compartment of the Event Messenger 150, with space for a laptop of up to 13” in the Event Messenger 250- ideal for professional photographers.

Benefit from added storage space, as a front zippered pocket provides an organised area in which to store accessories and smaller items. Stretch side pockets and a larger pocket closed with Velcro located on the reverse side of the bag offer access to quick-grab items when the bag is closed.

I've only had this bag a month or so, and I can't attest to its longevity, but I was very surprised at the quality of this bag for such a reasonable price.

I wanted something that didn't look particularly like a photo bag, and this pretty much fits the bill. Its padded nature kind of gives it away a little bit, but at least the Lowepro logo is nondescript (and can be easily covered) and it's not black and chunky.

It is also surprisingly roomy. I wanted something smallish which could also hold all my lenses, and this does very well. I have a Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 which is big and heavy, and I can slide it into the bag and still close the cover. Just. I can also fit in my semi-pro DSLR with 50mm lens, a short prime and a wide zoom, plus have extra space for a battery charger if I need to. I wouldn't worry about the tablet part of the bag... there's no way a tablet is easily going in there with a bunch of camera gear too. And the front pocket is big enough for memory cards, pens, etc. There's no way to attach a tripod or any other pouch, though.

The covering seems to repel water well, and the strap is wide and comfortable. There are velcro fastenings which can be folded back (so you don't have to use them) and a plastic buckle for closing the cover. The velcro is a little annoying because I would like to use it, but it makes a godawful noise when you open the bag... and since I shoot a lot in music venues, it's not the best. Folding the velcro back means that the cover bulges out awkwardly. I think I would have preferred to see two buckles or some alternative means of fastening.

All-in-all, a good back for the money. Recommended.

I have a couple of Lowepro bags. It's a funny thing that I always look around at other brands, and even if some of those other brands are probably a bit more stylish, I always end up buying Lowepro - they generally produce solid, sensible bags at reasonable prices.
In terms of looks, the 'squareness' of it is a little odd compared to a 'real' messenger bag, but it's not that noticeable and I quite like the colour compared to a black bag.

My main bag for the past 3 1/2 years has been a Lowepro Flipside 200, which although a reasonably small bag had enough room for 30D body with mid-sized zoom plus two other mid-sized zooms, plus a prime or maybe a flash and a bunch of other stuff. The access method was clever, but do I need all that to go out for a day? Do I really want to put that strap round my waist and then swing the bag forwards around my back every time I want to get something out? Well I was getting a bit tired of it, to the point where I was carrying my camera around on my back but not taking it out because I couldn't really be bothered to take it off my back in the first place. Even though the quality of the bag was very good I wanted to try a messenger style bag to make changing lenses and getting the camera in and out easier. I wanted to embrace the idea of carrying less and shooting more (or better).

This bag holds slightly less, however it would easily be possible to get a prosumer body with zoom + 2x zoom + a prime if necessary, although it would all get a little difficult to access with the camera also in there.

Having ummed and arred for ages over what bag to buy, I finally chose this one, and I really like it. It doesn't scream "I've got a grand's-worth of camera gear here" so it's a good choice for holiday destinations. I put my EOS550D + 15-85mm lens, 100mm macro, 100-300mm zoom, 2X converter, flash gun, spare batteries/cards, cables, remote release, time release, filter and more, and there's still room for an iPad/notebook and a can of coke etc. and it's still not too heavy to lug around all day with you.

I was a bit worried when I bought this that there wouldn't be enough room in it, wrong. Its so cleverly designed that you can get a medium sized DSLR with a couple of lenses including a 30mm, flash gun etc there are a couple of small elasticated pockets at each end ideal for keeping spare battery and memory cards at the ready. The front flap has a good idea with either a clip for quick access or Velcro and clip for more security. Very comfortable on the shoulder but the small grip handle on the top back not so good.

Great for those days when its not all about photography but you want a lightweight SLR and and lenses with you. It is not designed for pro bodies such as the Nikon D3.
I can comfortably fit into it:
1 small dSLR (Nikon D5100) with a pro 17-50mm f/2.8 lens attached
1 compact 55-200 zoom
1 Sigma 10-20
1 Fisheye
1 10" tablet (iPad size)
This would be enough for a touristy day around town. Even with all this in the bag I could add a pro lens 70-200 f/2.8 should the need ever arise.
The separate zip up compartment is fine for pens, notepad, spare batteries. There's a dedicated pocket with Velcro fastening for flash memory (SD or CompactFlash).
There is a external pocket suitable suitable for maps and documents. Also there are 2 external elasticated pockets to hold small (up to 500cc) drink bottles.
The shoulder strap is adjustable and has a wide comfortable pad which has a non-slip surface on the inside.
The bag has been well designed by someone who understands what a photographer needs. It looks smart and well made. The main compartment is well padded with more than enough padded Velcro attached dividers. I think I have finally found the ideal bag for those "light gear days"
