Product Description

Product Description

Take a fascinating journey into the life of one of the most respected, sought-after, and notorious magicians alive today: Lon Milo DuQuette. As entertaining as they are informative, the outrageous true stories in this one-of-a-kind memoir contain authentic magical theory and invaluable technical information. DuQuette tells how a friend was cursed by a well-known foreign filmmaker and how they removed that curse with a little help from Shakespeare. He explains how, as a six-year-old, he used the Law of Attraction to get a date with Linda Kaufman, the most beautiful girl in first grade. DuQuette also reveals the in and outs of working with demons and provides a compelling account of exorcising a demon from a private Catholic high school.

I have a confession to make... this is the first Lon Milo DuQuette book that I have ever read.

The first thing I will be doing after reading this book is checking out the back catalogue. DuQuette's style of writing is incredibly accessible and entertaining.

Although this book is dealing with 'low magick' (the stuff that you are most likely to be warned not to dabble with!) it is autobiographical, and the charm it holds is in how much of his magickal diaries he opens and shares. It really drives home that DuQuette is an experimenter - if you tell him that something can't or shouldn't be done, he is going to set about finding out WHY. This is what makes him such a trailblazer in his field. If everyone sat back and followed the 'don't do it' rules, we still wouldn't be eating tomatoes!

My personal highlight was the invoking of all the spirits of a Tarot deck into the cards in a weekend. It reminded me of some of my early spiritual 'experiments' and I am sure far more people than would care to admit it have undertaken just as crazy things!

This book was bought on a whim when appeared on a list of amazon recommendations. I haven't regretted it one bit! It brought back good and bad memories, cringeworthy recognitions and several insights. I've learned a lot but not in preachy way - you rock - I'm so glad I didn't put it down when page one invited me to!

Another entertaining excursion 24 Oct 2010
By Kikhos ba-Midhbar - Published on Amazon.com

Lon Milo DuQuette's latest memoir is as entertaining, yet less technical than My Life with Spirits. There are similar stories, which make for interesting comparison, such as his exorcism of a Catholic Girls' School. While it is entertaining, he describes his methods in such a way that gives a working magician some direction in how he addressed certain problems and an indication of how others might tackle the same. It is not a manual of magick per se, but written between every line in the book is a helpful piece of advice: "It works for me, find what works for you."

Don't make the mistake I made... 30 Oct 2010

If you are reading this book because you think it will be a "cookbook" of Low Magick like all the other dusty tomes out there, don't bother. Just read it! Let Lon pull you into his world and then simply enjoy it. Very rarely do I laugh out loud when I read a book on Magick but I have several times with this book. Give yourself a break from the scholarship that we usually have with these types of books, it's a mini-vacation, but it's all in your head.

You Have NO Idea... how cool this book is... 28 Oct 2010

until you read it. Lon Milo Duquette's "Low Magick" not only frankly and humorously shares the ups and downs of a ceremonial magician's path, but does so with grace, style, and with a broader tone that can be appreciate by a variety of aspirants/magicians/initiates. Thanks Lon!:)
