Book Description

Mar 2012 Lost Lords (Kensington)
Battered by the sea, Adam remembers nothing of his past, his ducal rank, nor the shipwreck that almost claimed his life. However, he's delighted to hear that the golden-haired vision tending his wounds in his wife. Mariah's name and face may be familiar, but her touch, her warmth, feel deliciously right. When Mariah Clarke prayed for a way to deter a bullying suitor, she didn't imagine she'd find the answer washed ashore on a desolate beach. Convincing Adam that he is her husband is surprisingly easy. Resisting the temptation to act his wife, in every way, will prove anything but. And now a passion begun in fantasy has become dangerously real - and completely irresistible.

More About the Author

A New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USAToday bestselling author, Mary Jo Putney was born in Upstate New York with a reading addiction, a condition for which there is no known cure. Her entire romance writing career is an accidental byproduct of buying a computer for other purposes.

Her novels are known for psychological depth and intensity and include historical and contemporary romance, fantasy, and young adult fantasy. Winner of numerous writing awards, including two RITAs and two Romantic Times Career Achievement awards, she has five times had books listed among the Library Journal's top five romances of the year, and three times had books among the top ten romances of Booklist, the magazine of the American Library Association.

Her favorite reading is great stories, but in a pinch she'll settle for the backs of cereal boxes. She's delighted that e-publishing can now make available books that have been out of print.

1.0 out of 5 stars Far too many coincidences and cliches..... 10 Sep 2009
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
One of my top ten historical romances ever is by MJP - The Rake - and I just can't believe that this book is written by the same person!? I haven't read her most recent books because they are not my thing but she has returned to historical romance and I decided I would definitely give it a go. I'm just glad I bought it 2nd hand on Amazon and didn't throw good money away on a new copy. The plot is unbelievable but so are other plots in other books yet if it's well written and the characters are good then you can suspend your disbelief. This book was not only full of unlikely coincidences but it was so flat, the characters so uninspiring and one dimensional, the cliches and coincidences piled high one on top of the other that I was just snorting in total disbelief by the time the last long lost family turned up with barely any outrage on the part of the heroine (whose father had deceived her all her life). I am deeply disappointed and I definitely won't be giving any of the other books in the series a look in. Straight to the charity shop with my copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent 13 Aug 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A great read, lots of storyline and action. You can visualise the scenes in the story. The story hits on some themes that are not normally common in these types of books - but were handle with ease. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
