Book Description

A 2014 Finalist in the National Readers' Choice Award for Historical!

CHERYL HOLT delivers another gripping tale of love, betrayal, loyalty, and family, proving once again why she's hailed as a women's fiction powerhouse. In this explosive conclusion to her 'Lord Trent' trilogy, readers will be sighing with pleasure and cheering with delight.

John Sinclair leads a double life. Though he's the illegitimate son of the infamous cad, Charles Sinclair, he seems to be a rich and prosperous gentleman. In reality, he is the notorious pirate known as Jean Pierre, The French Terror. He preys on British ships, carrying out a secret vendetta guaranteed to financially ruin several wealthy families. He's driven and determined and takes what he wants with a reckless abandon.

Sarah Teasdale lives quietly in the country at her family's estate on the English coast. With her father's death, she's at the mercy of her cruel relatives, and she'd give anything to change her fate. When dashing, mysterious John Sinclair arrives for a visit, she's stunned to learn that her stepbrother has gambled away her home to John. Everything is lost--including Sarah--with John claiming she now belongs to him and he can use her however he wishes. And he has many ideas as to the exact sort of role he'd like her to fill.

Normally, John wouldn't have bothered with a sheltered innocent like Sarah. But he simply can't resist. As a man who enjoys only the finest things in life, Sarah might turn out to be just what he's always needed.

Excellent exciting storyline and colourful believable characters. I loved this book and its strong thread . It had many stories all in one and you are able to envelope all of them into the exciting twists of this exciting story.

    5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read.. 12 July 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have really enjoyed the "Lord Trent" series. As the last one in the series "Love's Peril" doesn't disappoint. As usual there are many sub plots to keep you interested, besides the main story. The best part of the book is when all the story parts are gradually drawn together to come to a really satisfying end. Not rushed at all just totally satisfying. Some of the characters do go through each book, but each book can be read as a stand-alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good read 20 Sept. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
After reading all three books in the Lord Trent series. Lord Trent really is a rogue who goes off having children with different women without thinking of the consequences of his actions. His only redeeming factor is that he allows one of his illegitamate sons to search for the lost children. Then Lord Trent does what he can to help them. Even if he has got to lie to save one of them from hanging. Pirate John seems to be so like his father and yet he doesn't think himself good enough for Sarah. So John helps to save Sarah from her awful family members and foolishly himself. But won't save himself, just as well Lord Trent steps in. Like all romance story it ends well and John and Sarah are reunited.

    1.0 out of 5 stars We don't have assholes 29 Sept. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm honestly not being picky, but the overuse of americanisms in a book set in Georgian england began to grate early on, as did the generally modern language. I got tired of reading about how petite the heroines was (5 feet 5 and curvy is fairly standard by modern standards, it quite likely would have been on the large side in the 18th century). The plot itself could have been good in the hands of a decent writer and indeed is in tessa dare's surrender of a siren or georgette heyer's blck moth, which are well worth the extra few pounds. On the plus side, I liked the character of raven and felt he ought to have been developed more

4.0 out of 5 stars Lord Trent Series 16 July 2013

Really enjoyed the whole Lord Trent series. Maybe a bit predictable in places but still enjoyable, with a few interesting twists.

    4.0 out of 5 stars a compendium! 23 July 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Started brilliantly. Couldn't put it down, became very exciting and intriguing, started to get convoluted and over run with characters and story lines. Separated into 3 or 4 books would undoubtedly have got 5 stars. John became annoying at the end. Sarah needed to get a life, one person in the whole village who wants to marry her aged 60 ??? Really???

3.0 out of 5 stars An Alright Read 4 Aug. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I paid just 38p for this and It was a good bargain.

A nice story. I didn't think much of the two male protagonists. To my mind they came across as self absorbed and not very likeable throughout most of the story. In the end my opinion did change.but I had to get to nearly the end to change my mind.

4.0 out of 5 stars It was okay 12 Nov. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It was okay, if a little annoying, especially the princely way that Jean Pierre dressed and lived.
Also the way the author kept referring to the men as bigger and stronger.
I did not much care for Jean Pierre, found him to be too self absorb and always wanting things his way, like a spoilt child.
