Reviews

British romantic comedy starring Dougray Scott and Claire Forlani. Rob Haley (Scott) is an up-and-coming London chef and restaurateur who is devastated when he loses his wife in a tragic accident. His friend TV chef Gordon Ramsay (appearing as himself) persuades him to reinvent his life by taking on a dilapidated country pub and transforming it into a gourmet restaurant. There he is visited by beautiful American food critic Kate Templeton (Claire Forlani) - but are either of them ready to find an appetite for love?

This is a great "feel good" English Rom Com - with a really impressive line up, Simon Callow is particularly entertaining. It has a rather old fashioned feel to it in some ways, a certain predictability that is rather endearing.

I bought the dvd on the basis of the good reviews alreday existing at Amazon, but the film falls short on almost every criterion. It gets points for its endeavour, in trying to capture the flavour of rural Britain, with lots of eccentric and sometimes over-the-top British characters - but loses them all on its execution, with a cringeworthy plot and script, poor characterisation and simply dreadful acting from all the actors, notably including the main leads. It was a struggle to continue watching, and I just pressed the fast forward button to get me through it. I did that in case it got better. It didn't. I know these sorts of films have predictable plots; the pleasure is in the journey instead of the ending, but this short film felt like a trans-Siberian rail trip.

This is a foodie's version of Love actually, Fantastic story great acting and of course The God of the kitchens himself Gordon is in it could not want more from a film if you love Real English Pubs and a storyline that no doubt rings a lot of truth bells then here it is Loves Kitchen.

And Maybe idiotic Americans who still insist on driving along texting and talking on mobiles may actually realise its not your 'right' to use your phone driving it's others right to live.

I really enjoyed this movie, There are a host of familler faces such as Peter Bowes and Cherie Lungi, I really enjoyed seeing Michelle Ryan as the kitchen assistent. The central performances from Dougray Scott and Claire Forlani were great and the story was sweet without being over sentiamental and was very funny in parts Simon Callow as a Tv food critic was very funny and the story was well paced and kept you intrested a treat for lovers of Notting Hill, Solitaire for 2 , and No reservations a must buy for fans of romentic comedy.

Consider this a 3 course meal you've been promised, where the starter is 'fine' but lacks depth of flavour, the main is nice but lacks presentation and the dessert is a sticky gooey mess that you really shouldn't enjoy (due to calories alone) but you couldn't resist finishing!

Not a bad British film, there was something missing it to make it really good. It was a reasonable way to spend a few hours- with some fun cameos from people you would recognise from mainstream tv.

The idea of the movie is great and, potentially, a wonderful love story BUT the pace is excruciatingly slow. It is so slow that you lose patience with it long before you develop any sympathy or interest in the characters. I watched it to the end hoping, against proof, that it would improve. It would be more entertaining to do nothing than to watch this.

I ordered this DVD and hoped for a great experience. Great was my dissappointment. This movie has it all: bad acting, miserable (non-existent!) plot and extremely bad editing. What a disaster - and this from two of my favourite movie stars.
