As the wickedly seductive Wilde cousins seek true love by taking a page from history’s legendary love stories, Lord Jack Wilde plays a determined Romeo courting an enchanting Juliet.

The last thing Sophie Fortin expects at a masquerade ball is a dazzling kiss from a pirate. But when Jack begins a breathtaking seduction, Sophie can barely resist.

Jack never imagined that the daughter of his family’s mortal enemy would awaken such fierce passion within him—until one unforgettable kiss changes his mind forever. Soon, Jack is hell-bent on winning Sophie’s hand, going so far as to abduct her to save her from marrying a rival nobleman. Determined to woo Sophie and her unyielding parents, Jack is faced with the one decision he’d sworn never to make. The secret heir to a prince, Jack has spurned his royal heritage for years . . . but for Sophie he’ll risk all to turn a legacy of heartbreak into love ever after.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved Lover Be Mine! 2 Jun 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Originally given 4 and a half stars at The Rookie Romance Blog.

Oh wow, so good! There's so much passion, a swoon worthy hero and seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
It's my first book by Nicole Jordan, and I can absolutely guarantee you that I will be reading more from this author, starting with book 1 in this series- Princess Charming.
Although this is the second book in this series, I definitely didn't need to read the first book to understand anything that was happening. It works very well as a stand alone book.

So, Sophie and Jack's families have been feuding for decades, Sophie's father still feels cheated by the Wildes. Jack's cousin is absolutely determined that Sophie could be his perfect match, and they fit the roles of Romeo and Juliet rather well! Jack finally gives in, and agrees to at least meet her, but when they finally meet there is an instant attraction between them. Even though Jack considers the idea that he and Sophie are star-crossed lovers, to be crazy, he can't deny their connection and pursues her. Unfortunately, he has to court her rather secretly because of her father. And another problem- she's practically engaged to a Duke twice her age. Sophie's parents have financial problems and are reliant on her wealthy aunt. Sophie has a very strong sense of her familial duty, and can't afford to consider Jack, despite what her heart tells her.

I loved Jack! He was such an awesome hero. He ticked so many boxes for me, he has the image of a carefree rogue, known for his antics. There is a lot more to him though. He hides his vulnerabilities very deeply, even from his own very close family. He suffered as a child, and it still affects him greatly as a man. He's also incredibly protective, and is determined to fight for Sophie.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4.25 stars-seductive storyline 18 April 2014
Format:Mass Market Paperback
4.25 stars

LOVER BE MINE is the second instalment in Nicole Jordan’s Legendary Lovers historical romance series. This is Lord Jack Wilde and Sophie Fortin’s story-a tale not unsimilar to Romeo and Juliet where a decades old feud has left two families bitter and Sophie’s family without a title or a royal name. Nicole Jordan weaves a fractured Shakespearean tale where our couple will fall in love much to the disdain of Sophie’s family when an arranged marriage has already been in the works that will insure Sophie’s family a title and connection to a royal seat.

The focus of the series is on the five Wilde cousins who, through young Kate and Skyler Wilde, have made it their job to ensure each of the cousins finds love. With reference to fairy tales and Shakespeare’s plays, the youngest Wilde’s set into motion a plan that will see their cousin Jack fall in love with Miss Sophie Fortin-but not before a battle of wills forces Jack and Sophie to reconsider what it is, that they want. With the Fortin family pride on the line, Sophie refuses to acknowledge her love for Jack in the hopes that her father will be accepted back into royal society.

The attraction between Jack and Sophie is immediate. They are drawn to one another but Sophie has been betrothed to another man. Jack’s only hope to win Sophie’s hand is to accept his family heritage as the rightful heir to a principality but in doing so he must accept that the man he has hated since a young child is the father who abandoned his mother and his self almost twenty five years earlier.

Sophie is a strong willed woman-when she wants to be- but has a very difficult time saying no to her father.

2.0 out of 5 stars ... 11 Aug 2013
By Not Telling - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I was really excited for this one because the first one in this series was just too bland. But this was so different than Jordan's usual writing.

First of all, this whole theory the Wilde sisters have about each of them being destined for love in a way resembling some old classic romance tale is kind of...childish, and not really intriguing. It's cute I guess, but not plausible.

Second of all, Sophie drove me crazy. She was the most pathetic heroine Jordan has ever written. Usually her heroines are strong-willed, independent, and brave. All Sophie did was say she couldn't hurt her father's feelings. Right, because he's SO considerate of hers. She was hard to relate to, could never stand up for herself, EVER, people would talk about her without her saying, "Hey, anyone care what I think and how I feel?"

As usual, her love scenes were scorching and sensual. However, it's no fun if you don't love the characters. For the life of me I couldn't find out WHY Jack loved her, just that he wanted her. Sure, it said so at the end, about her being his other half, but that sounded so...forced.

I really hope the next one is a keeper. Jordan can do much better than this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nicole Jordan delivers again!!!! "LOVER BE MINE" 30 May 2013
By Lady Valeria - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I was very fortunate to have read the ARC of the new book "LOVER BE MINE" by Nicole Jordan. Once again she has not failed to deliver. An amazing plot, filled with romance and desire. All the while a movie was playing in my head as I read about a mascarede ball, beautiful places...foreign land, palaces and a perfect game of seduction. Jack is a delicious Romeo : spirited sweet rogue with a heart and sensibility to match. Sophie is kind, loving and wishful. Determined to honor her parent's wishes while divided between love and duty. Her nature made of her a perfect Juliet. Nicole will sparkle and enchant her fans all over the world with her spirited and sensuous version of " Romeo & Juliet".

4.0 out of 5 stars Lover be Mine, A Review for the Blog Bodice Rippers, Femme Fatales and Fantasy 29 May 2013
By Shauni - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I Find it hard to believe that this was my first ever Nicole Jordan book. Lover Be Mine is the second book in her Legendary Lovers Series.. Basically each couple takes on the role of a famous literary couple. In book one Princess Charming.. The leads follow the story of Cinderella complete with wicked stepmother and life that could be a dreary existence. In Lover be Mine we see strains of Romeo and Juliet.. well the Montagues and the Capulets.. One can only hope that the characters don't die..

As the wickedly seductive Wilde cousins seek true love by taking a page from history's legendary love stories, Lord Jack Wilde plays a determined Romeo courting an enchanting Juliet.

Not to worry the family is very much aware that they are opting for history's greatest romances to lead their way to love. It's impractical, it's daring and what the heck, it's fun.. and as good as any other way of trying to find a real lasting love.

Sophie Fortin, the only child of a beleaguered house.. Once part of the aristocracy but their Baronacy was lost when a distant grandparent was killed in a duel. The title and the money went to a sibling rather than a son (not sure why) and the family has been common ever since. Because of this Sophie's family despises the Wicked Wildes.. Sophie a charming loving daughter has done everything she could to make life easier for her embittered father and ailing mother. And finally it is all coming to fruition as Sophie is on the verge of receiving a proposal from a Duke.. A perfectly nice man who is looking for a second wife, a bit older and very much set in his ways.. It's not the marriage of her dreams but it promises to be a respectable one.. Sophie is sure she will be content with her life. Until Wild Jack Wilde, crashes her masquerade..

Jack Wilde, adopted by his uncle as a child is a prince among the ton.. wilde and reckless but has a heart of gold and supports orphans and unwed mothers..When his cousin and sister come to him with their plan of matching him with his Juliette he is less than thrilled. But because he loves his family he is willing at least check her out.. One look and he is smitten. It's not just her lovely looks and carriage but her sincerity and warmth. Her graciousness to others.. Jack is willing to see what could happen now all he has to do is convince his Juliette.

Jack and Sophie are two really great characters.. both committed to their families and understand the others deep need to remain a part of said families. The feud that has gone on for generations at this point is more about lack of social standings and how it came about. There are levels and levels of obstacles for these two to overcome.. One of the largest is Jack has to claim his heritage from his father.. the man who abandoned his mother in Paris leaving her to die at the hands of the masses.. A Pretty hard thing to forgive..

I am hoping to get my hands on Princess Charming soon and was completely captivated by this story premise. I liked how the family decided to pursue their romances this way as opposed to the author just writing yet another Romeo and Juliette Story, It's kind of a wink/wink at all of us. All in all an excellent book be sure and check it out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Reading Jordan - Always a Pleasure 4-1/2* 28 May 2013
By M. Rondeau - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
In a continuation of Jordan's wild Wilde family series featuring legendary lovers, Lord Jack Wilde is coerced by his loving cousin Skye to play the Romeo to an enchanting young Miss as his Juliet. Just as in the legendary tale, Jack would not only have to turn Miss Sophie Fortin's attentions towards him but restore peace over a long held feud where Sophie's father despised his family. There would be only one way it might work, but Jack would also have to make a sacrifice himself by forgiving his own father in order to have a fighting chance in winning his Juliet!

*** In Ms. Jordan's second book in her Legendary Lovers series, dutiful daughter, Sophie Fortin is expected by her parents to make a brilliant match with a kind but much older Duke in order to restore her parents prospects back to where they should have been had not a Wilde ancestor lost them their titles. Lord Jack really was not interested in playing his cousin Skye's silly game but he did promise to at least check out Miss Sophie Fortin. Perhaps not `love at first sight' but it was enough for Jack in a pirate's masquerade to steal a kiss, and that was pretty much all it took.

With Ms. Jordan's incredible word-smith talents LOVER BE MINE followed suit as do all her brilliant work. LOVER BE MINE is a fabulously convoluted escape into an enchanting love story, as Lord Jack does all that he must to convince Sophie that he is saving her from an incredibly boring life by allowing her to wed a duke almost three times her age. Couple that with Sophie's very forth-right and outspoken aunt who is paying for Sophie's season - and who doesn't really like Sophie's father much at all! Consequently, the reader will also be engaging in quite a few light-hearted moments as auntie and Lord Jack do all in their power to sway Sophie from her determined course.

What one doesn't expect as the story moves along was the emotional tug of war as Jack wrestles with his long nursed hatred of a father whom he had written off. However, for Jack to truly be able to convince both Sophie's parents of his ardent love for her, Jack would have to come to terms with a father he'd dismissed as dead to himself.

Bottom line: LOVER BE MINE is the type of romance that will grab you from beginning to end, showering the reader with many emotions throughout and leaving you with that wonderful ahhhhh... feeling at the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Romeo and Juliet Minus the Tragedy 30 May 2013
By M. Lusk - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Nicole Jordan's LOVER BE MINE is a delightful romance complete with feuding families, a cupid-playing sister, and a duplicitous dowager aunt.

Sophie Fortin is fascinated by the scandalous Jack Wilde, yet she has every intention of honoring her parents wish that she marry the Duke of Dunmore. Jack is at once intrigued, and soon finds himself doing everything in his power to prevent Sophie from accepting a betrothal from the older, uncoordinated duke.

Sophie and Jack are refreshingly candid with one another throughout the story. And the attraction between the two makes for delicious romantic encounters.

An excellent read!
