Unlike other 'cover-ups' this beautifully designed soft faux suede shawl does not look like a bib or an apron but like an article of clothing you might well choose to wear. Not only does it allow you to breastfeed privately but also helps to protect the baby from distractions. It provides ample coverage for mother and baby with its roomy neckline - so that mother and baby can see each other. I bought this shawl when my daughter was 10 weeks old; I'd been breastfeeding since day one. I actually bought it so I could feel more comfortable in public places - I use a nipple shield and have quite large breasts, so it's hard to be discreet. However, it was even more of a palaver with the shawl.
Being 'shawl-shaped' it has big openings at the sides, so I found my breasts were still on show. And to be able to look at your baby while feeding you have to pull down the neckline quite far to be able to see properly - thereby making the shawl lift up at the back and sides even more.
The material IS lovely and soft and it's nicely made, but as a nursing shawl it was definitely more of a hindrance than a help. I found myself getting incredibly stressed trying to keep the thing in the right place while latching my daughter on. In the end, on a recent family day out to an aquarium, I gave up and decided to bare all instead. And it was a LOT less hassle!
Maybe the shawl works for some people, but I would certainly not recommend it to anyone.

I brought this item when my son was 4 weeks old to enble me to feed him wherever we were. It is the best purchase I have made for baby. It is discreet and you can just slip it on over whatever you are wearing and feed. I have used it to feed outside cafes, on the beach, whilst visiting friends and relatives, in restaurants, on the park. In fact having this shawl has taken away the worry about where to breastfeed my son when out and about. I did not want to be shut away to feed him, and the shawl enables me to be relaxed whilst feeding. My son obviously feels happy to feed under the shawl and I have never had any problems feeding in any environment. I just love it and highly recommend it.
