This album contains in my opinion the two best Erasure songs ever,'Alien' and 'Love is the Rage'- two stunningly beautiful songs. Each time listening to this album, I have discovered something new.The mixture of guitar sounds and synths works very well, the album has a variety of moods, a mixture of ballads and stomping dancy tunes. Andy Bell's vocals are fresh and gutsy, the music sounds at time fun and sometimes serious. There is a strong theme of love in the lyrics, I could imagine 'Catch 22'being played at a wedding !:-)

If you are looking for an album of great pop tunes, then 'Loveboat' is definitely a must buy.

This has got to be the darkest album Erasure have ever released! It's moody, it's atmospheric, sombre but still very much POP! Instead of giving you what you expect, they give you more than you could hope for. This is Erasure being alternative but still very much melodic. The bass is much heavier and the drums are pounding. If you want them to do the same old thing then listen to your old albums! If you want a pleasant surprise with tunes and all then spend your dosh on this Treasure! It has hidden depths that will not disapoint! Promise.

Like a lot of people, it took me a couple of listens to really appreciate Loveboat. This album seems like it would have fit right in the space where Cowboy sits on the Erasure discography as it is a perfect complement to the brilliant, but sales deficient ERASURE. My favorites include the very Erasuresque Freedom, the somber Where in the world, and the song that sounds like it belongs at a high school prom, Surreal. I was put off at first by Perchance to Dream, but now I love it!

A moody masterpiece!
I've been an avid Erasure fan since "The Innocents" almost twenty years ago. I think Loveboat was so poorly received upon release in 2000 because it was a comeback album, and... Read more

More of a tramp steamer than a passenger liner!
I love them. I genuinely have a deep and abiding faith in Vince Clarke (especially) and Andy Bell. As a follower of 'Nobby' from the early eighties, he's produced a vast amount... Read more

Erasure's worst album
I can't believe some people are saying this is their best album! Face up to the fact that they will never do better than Chorus which is a masterpiece. Read more

They just sound so overwhelmingly knackered!
Firstly, being a musician myself, I give full respect to them for having tried "something different" here, as repetition is also the death of creativity. Read more

I love Erasure, but...
As a die-hard Erasure fan since the 1980s, the boys can do no wrong in my eyes (despite the recent 'flop' albums, which I really loved). Read more

Where's the captain?
With the release of "Erasure" in 1995 there seemed to be a new future for the group with longer tracks, an almost ambient approach and more drama. Read more

I hope this is not the Titanic!
Not too hot. I live in Dallas Texas and Erasure has been huge here for years, but this might push off even their oldest and most faithful fans! Read more
