Love at Stake by Victoria Davies

Abbey is the lone human working for Fated Match, a company that pairs members of the supernatural community with their eternal mates. To snag a young vampire socialite as her next client, Abbey journeys to the home of Lucian Redgrave, the most respected vampire on the East Coast. But he's not willing to recommend the agency to the vampire world... unless Abbey can first find his perfect match in a month.

As Abbey coaches Lucian through his dates, she can't deny the chemistry between them. But humans are toys for vampires, and risking her heart isn't a part of the plan.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun & sexy easy-read 29 Mar 2014

For someone who hasn't really been a fan of paranormal romance in the past, Entangled's Covet line has converted me and Love at Stake is a fun, sexy, easy-reading addition to the line.

Abbey Sinclair, human and employee at a dating agency specialising in finding perfect matches for the immortals, is tasked with getting wealthy socialite vampire Melissa on the books. When she meets her, she also meets her 'father', Lucian Redgrave; reclusive wealthy CEO to humans and vampire lord of New York to immortals. He refuses to let his 'daughter' sign up to the dating agency unless Abbey can match him with his soulmate. She has a month and an easy client he is not, because the man has been alone for nigh on a thousand years...

Lucian has skills. He's sexy, knows how to seduce and say the right things plus his bedroom skills aren't rusty at all. Abbey makes no bones that she isn't a fan of vampires and gives him a run for his money because she is stubborn, fiery, and determined to the point of frustration! But they have a fabulous chemistry and with it brings humour, sexual tension, passion and some touching moments.

A book I'd recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars a trips down imagination road review 4 Feb 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I received a copy of Love at Stake in exchange for my review.

Abbey works at Fated Match, the most prestigious dating agency for supernaturals. Human herself, Abbey has no intention of dating any supernaturals herself, but all that changes when she meets Lucien. A vampire for centuries, he's never found his mate, and yet as soon as he meets Abbey he is captivated by the bubbly and colourful human. But Abbey's boss isn't impressed with how distracted her star client is by her employee, and that's not to mention the other problems their fledgling relationship faces.

Wow! This book was sexy, fun and engaging. I really wanted to keep turning the pages to find out what happened next for Abbey and Lucien. Though there was also some page turning to find the next witty comment!

What attracted me to this book was the concept, I haven't read anything about a dating agency for supernaturals and it intrigued me. And its safe to say I wasn't disappointed! I thought that the concept, along with the execution and story line worked perfectly together.

Oh and the chemistry between Abbey and Lucien was amazing, almost jump off the page good. Though I often forgot that he was a vampire. Saying that, it was the pretty standard Abbey refuses to date vampires line, and Lucien had to convince her otherwise. The thing that wasn't standard about it though was the fact that he did it in such a fun and sometimes amusing way.

The other good thing this book had to offer was Chloe. Though all she really talked about with Abbey was men, it was still a believable relationship, and it seems quite rare for there to actually be a relationship between two female friends in some books.

4.0 out of 5 stars a fun paranormal read 28 Jan 2014

Love at Stake. Victoria Davies
Review from Jeannie Zelos Book reviews.
I'd had a run of books that weren't really working for me, and needed something I’d definitely enjoy so picked up this one. Entangled Covets are always a fun read, always up to standard, sometimes a five star, usually a four but never less than a three, and that’s what I needed to get my reading back on track. Anyway – Abbey and Lucien – what a fun couple. Abbey is “no vamps” while ancient vampire Lucien finds her fun, and determines to change her mind. He bets her that she can't find his perfect match via the agency in under a month, insisting that she is the liaison and that she waits for thirty minutes to see if the date is working. Of course he's got an ulterior motive – this way he's got time to work on Abbey. Abbey needs to do it as the agency numbers are down, and signing up Lucien's daughter will give them a much needed boost, with other clients then coming forward, and that means job security for Abbey.
There some smouldering sensuality – in romances the old vamps do that so well, and of course with hundreds of years of experience Abbey doesn't stand a chance with him, he has all the answers to every doubt she has. Slowly he wears her down. He thinks he just needs to get her out of his system, and she thinks one night will allay the feelings she has, get the experience over and back to normal. Of course for both its one night, plus and another , then another...all the while telling themselves its only temporary. He's not the only one after Abbey though – she's come up as a close to perfect match for a werewolf and he's not giving in easily.....
