5.0 out of 5 stars Rock 'n' Roll genius!, 22 Jan 2006
By Chris Hall "Dreadlocksmile" (Cardiff, Wales) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
Baby Chaos, Love Your Self Abuse - Back in early 1993 the four-piece rock outfit ‘Baby Chaos’ from Stewarton, South Glasgow appeared on the television programme “The Late Show” and were quickly snapped up by East West Records following their performance. Having only one release under their belt; the first “Buzz E.P.” which was released through Elastic Honey Records, the band quickly brought out a host of singles and E.P.’s along with their 2004 debut album “Safe Sex Designer Drugs & The Death Of Rock ‘N’ Roll.” With their new debut album to promote, the band went on tour supporting such bands as The Wildhearts, Terrorvison and Elastica. The band went on to release their follow-up album “Love Your Self Abuse” in 1996. Shortly after the album's release, drummer Davy Greenwood left the group due to unfortunate health problems and was soon replaced by the ex-Jesus Jones drummer Simon Gen Matthews. The album was again released by the East West record label.

Following on from the group's outstanding debut album, Baby Chaos have managed to create another masterpiece of ‘90s British rock. The thirteen-track album sees the usual combination of punky-pop-rock with riff-dominant guitars and the emotionally charged vocals of Chris Gordon.

The album sprung up two singles with the tracks “Hello” and “Ignoramus.” The two tracks are both superb anthems of rock ‘n’ roll, but they are not the only tracks on the album that stand out as potential single material. The tracks “Try Hard To Be Psychic” and “Confessions Of A Teenage Pervert” are two such examples of tracks that could well have made great singles.

All in all, the album is a must for anyone who is interested in the whole ‘90s British rock scene. Bursting with funky and thick riffs, the CD forms a solid pillar in the grou'ps forming, developing and changing career.

Baby Chaos later changed their name temporarily to ‘Callahan’ in 1997 before finally deciding on the name ‘Deckard’. They have since released two albums – “Stereodreamscape” and “Dreams of Dynamite and Divinity” (to date).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great stuff from north of the border, 20 Jul 2000

Baby Chaos have now disappeared but they left a true gem of an album behind. It is sheer brillance from start to finish, with is power punk pop songs. Its one album that I never tire of, by it and enjoy, you certainly won't regret it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Punchy, powerful as good as the other album., 20 Jul 2005

Baby Chaos have been refered to as power/punk can't see it myself. They are just a good rock band playing with lots of energy. There's no guitar solo's to speak of but they play as if there lives depend on it and come out with some cracking riffs. The standout is the ten minute closer which goes into a meandering riff that goes on and on and does give the guitarists a chance to work out. It's like something out of the Stooges 'fun house' period and very hypnotic. A great closer. Pity they broke up soon after. The other album is good as well!
