Product Description

What do you do if you find a bra in your husband's luggage that isn't yours? Or even his! This is the dilemma facing mother-of-three Sophie Reed, shortly after she moves to France with her family to start a new life. As they are unpacking her husband admits to having an affair with a French woman called Cécile. Sophie thinks about throwing him out with the bra. But then what? Should she move back to England? Her inner French woman tells her otherwise.

This is the first of Helena Frith Powell's books that I've read, and but it definitely won't be my last. I was looking for a fun, lighthearted read to get lost in for a few hours and 'Love in a Warm Climate' did not disappoint. The story transports you to the lush, idyllic world of the French countryside and follows one woman as she struggles to put her life back together after her husband's infidelity. With the help of her friends, children, and neighbors, she transforms herself physically and mentally and is rewarded as three new potential love-interests enter her life. The question of who she will ultimately choose is strung out throughout the story and will keep you turning the pages until the very end. Sophie is a likable heroine with enormous strength and a witty intelligence that comes through the narration of the story. You will find yourself rooting for her to find her own happy ending as well as laughing along the way. Though certainly no one wishes to be in Sophie's exact situation with an unfaithful husband and as a single mother of three children, her movie-star lover and romantic trysts on a French vineyard provide us a great escape from the dull monotony of our own lives. I highly recommend this story for anyone who is looking for just a few hours of French fun!

Until recently I have been having 'reading block', where every book I've picked up has bored me to tears and made me reach for the remote control. That is until I read 'Love in a Warm Climate'.
I have really enjoyed Helena Frith Powell's other (non-fiction) books, especially 'Two Lovers and A Lipstick' and her latest publication, a novel, is no disappointment. In fact, it has inspired me to re-read 'Two Lovers and A Lipstick' in order to refresh my memory on how to find my inner French woman, which is easy to forget with children around (well, that's my excuse anyway).
I would highly recommend this novel. It is clever, well researched and full of emotion. I also loved the yoga instructions at the end - just wish that I could do my sun salutations in France like Sophie!

Since putting this book down I have been frantically searching for my lip gloss in a tragic attempt to search for my inner French woman. What a fab little read! I couldn't put the book down. I have even looked up yoga classes on the internet. If a book has this impact on me I am looking forward to reading more by Helena Frith Powell...
