In Love & War is R&B starlet Amerie's fourth album since she burst on to the scene with the hit single "Why Don’t We Fall in Love" in 2002. Held in high regard for attempting to steer contemporary R&B away from synthetic sounds through the use of live instrumentation, In Love & War shows further evolution for Amerie: an aggressive mix of hip-hop, raw soul reminiscent of James Brown, and classic Led Zeppelin-era rock ‘n roll.
